Liverpool in talks over midfielder deal
Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes has overseen around £290m worth of spending during the summer transfer window.
A British record deal for Florian Wirtz has been completed - and the Reds have signed plenty more players besides.

We’ve seen Hugo Ekitike arrive at Anfield from Eintracht Frankfurt - while Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong, Giorgi Mamardashvili and Giovanni Leoni are also among those to have joined the Reds.

And in order to finance those deals Liverpool have been content to let some of their Premier League title winners depart.
Bajcetic tipped to leave on loan
Luis Diaz and Darwin Nunez are among the most notable - and the Anfield club have also said goodbye to Jarell Quansah, Ben Doak, Caoimhin Kelleher, Tyler Morton, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Nat Phillips.
But even MORE players have been earmarked for an exit - with Harvey Elliott potentially next to go.
Liverpool could also opt to let certain players leave on loan - with Stefan Bajcetic among those looking to be struggling for first-team game time this season.
Bajcetic, 20, spent last season out on loan at Red Bull Salzburg and Las Palmas - impressing in the Spanish LaLiga and attracting more suitors in this summer’s transfer window.
Liverpool locked in talks with Girona
It’s unlikely the Reds will sanction a permanent departure for the Spain under-21 midfielder but he could well return to his home country for another temporary spell.
We’ve seen links with Celta Vigo and Valencia - and now City Football Group’s Girona have come forward with interest. According to a new report in Fichajes, Liverpool are in talks with last season’s Champions League opponents over a loan deal for the midfielder.
“Girona has initiated direct contact with Liverpool to unblock the deal as soon as possible,” the report reads.
“Negotiations are progressing positively. Both Liverpool and Girona agree that Stefan Bajcetic should have a leading role in a league that could serve as a springboard for him to consolidate his place in the elite.”
Bajcetic needs first-team football
Last season was a comeback campaign for Bajcetic, who missed almost a full season’s worth of football for the Reds in 2023/24.
Having endured his fair share of injuries, Bajcetic will be hoping for another solid campaign and a place in the Liverpool squad in the seasons ahead.
A move to Girona could be just the tonic for Bajcetic - who will be no doubt desperate to get back into the first-team reckoning for the Reds.
