Liverpool are reportedly scouting several players right now ahead of the transfer window. Here are the top names we believe they’re after.

The Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele suggests Liverpool are deep in their scouting right now. The summer transfer window is right around the corner, after all, and the Reds need to know who to chase.

He mentions three clubs being targeted: RB Leipzig, Real Betis and River Plate. Liverpool have been watching all three and from there, we think we can deduce the subjects of this scouting.

Here are the name we expect Liverpool have been keeping an eye on.

Benjamin Sesko

Okay, well this one wasn’t hard to figure out as Steele straight up names him in the article. Liverpool are after a centre-forward this summer and while Benjamin Sesko isn’t necessarily the first choice, he’s certainly on the shortlist.

Liverpool want someone who can replace Darwin Nunez, essentially. Sesko fits the profile physically, while he boasts incredible potential.

He only turns 23 last this month, while he’s already bagged 13 goals with another five assists in the Bundesliga. Liverpool would be foolish not to see what all the fuss is about.

Xavi Simons

Another one Steele has given up for free. Xavi Simons is the star of this Leipzig side and will almost certainly move in the summer.

It’s understood that Leipzig paid the clause to sign Simons this year specifically to sell for a profit. A figure of around £51m has been suggested by Empire of the Kop.

Simons has nine goals and seven assists in 23 Bundesliga fixtures this season. It’s exactly the kind of output Liverpool want from their attacking midfielders, so no surprise they’re keeping an eye on.

Johnny Cardoso

Anfield Watch understands that Liverpool have been watching Johnny Cardoso at Real Betis. That would line up with Steele’s claim that the Reds are paying attention to Betis fixtures.

Cardoso is one of the brightest prospects in La Liga right now, though a complicated one to sign. Tottenham Hotspur secured a clause for him at around £25m when they sold Giovani Lo Celso to Betis last summer (the Mirror).

But Cardoso is unquestionably worth tracking and Liverpool may see him as the ideal addition to their midfield. Someone who can step in as a squad player but with the potential to be a genuine star.

Franco Mastantuono

Anyone watching River Plate right now is doing so for Franco Mastantuono. He’s the brightest gem in Argentine football right now - arguably South American.

But there is fierce competition to get him. Real Madrid are eager, while Chelsea view him as as yet another wonderkid waiting to move to Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool have been linked with Mastantuono but make no mistake: this is an incredibly difficult player to sign. The 17-year-old is an incredible talent and the Reds would be very fortunate to call him their own.

Ian Subiabre

Mastantuono might be the highlight but he’s not the only River Plate wonderkid worth watching. Ian Subiabre looks destined for the top - and Liverpool reportedly want him.

El Crack Deportivo makes that claim, suggesting Liverpool are there with Chelsea (of course) and Barcelona in tracking Subiabre. The 18-year-old has already been touted as a future regular for the Argentine national team and has featured at senior level for River Plate on a few occasions now.

Another very interesting wonderkid and the kind of versatile forward Liverpool would love to invest in. At the very least, a name to keep an ear out for.
