Liverpool star will STAY after rejecting Saudi offer
One Liverpool star is set to remain with the club after rejecting an offer from Saudi Arabia. A lucrative one at that.
Liverpool are in the process of tying players down to long-term contracts as their rebuild continues. It's a key part of that endeavour after the sales and signings - making sure key stars will stick around.
But it's also about rewarding those who helped deliver the Premier League title last season. Certain stars - incredibly important ones - remain on their initial deals on signing with Liverpool.
That's going to change for a lot of them over the coming year. In particular, Liverpool will look to tie down midfielders.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed this week that Dominik Szoboszlai is currently in talks with the Reds over a new deal. He's not the only one, either.
Ryan Gravenberch rejects Saudi offer
Journalist Nicolo Schira reports that Ryan Gravenberch is set to sign a new contract at Liverpool. On top of that, he rejected a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia in order to remain with the Reds.
It’s unquestionably fantastic news for Liverpool. Gravenberch developed into one of the best midfielders in world football last season - something no one really saw coming.
And that’s from a player who was really a speculative punt from the club. Moises Caicedo was the midfielder Liverpool wanted but after he chose Chelsea, the Reds pivoted.
Gravenberch had been struggling over at Bayern Munich, leaving the Bavarians willing to sell. In came Jürgen Klopp and co., who convinced the Dutchman that he could recapture his best football on Merseyside.
Things started slowly but after Arne Slot came in, Gravenberch completely found his feet. Now it feels as though both player and club are getting a reward for their faith in one another as they commit to a long-term deal.
