Liverpool have their eyes planted on a €100m superstar as their next mega signing. The Reds have already brought in one this summer, of course.

Liverpool caused a storm this summer by signing Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen. The German playmaker is the club’s new record signing.

Not only that, but he’s the first nine-figure signing in Liverpool’s history. No one saw the transfer coming before the summer started - it was an incredible coup.

But the Reds are not done. They absolutely pack the power to complete another mega-signing as their lack of transfer movement a year ago leaves them more than comfortable financially.

There’s also an attack to rebuild as Darwin Nunez and Luis Diaz have very uncertain futures. The latter is a particularly interesting one as Liverpool didn't necessarily want to sell the Colombian.

Interest from the likes of Barcelona and Bayern Munich may force their hand, however. Diaz appears to want to leave and that leaves Liverpool looking for a replacement.

Liverpool want Rodrygo

AS reports that Liverpool have now joined the race to sign Rodrygo from Real Madrid. The Brazilian is widely expected to be offered out this summer.

Now, it’s not particularly clear if he actually wants to leave the club. Real Madrid, however, do want to move on and Rodrygo barely featured at the FIFA Club World Cup.

We’ve suggested recently that he’d be an ideal replacement for Diaz, should the latter leave Liverpool. It now looks like the Reds agree - and they’ve put themselves in the race here.

Globo in Brazil suggests Rodrygo would cost around €100m. That sounds about right, given his reputation and the fact Liverpool aren’t the only club interested in the player.

AS mentions both Arsenal and Bayern Munich as potential suitors for Rodrygo. We imagine Liverpool would fancy their chances of seeing off both clubs, however.

A second could be on the way.

Rest in peace, Diogo Jota.
