Liverpool avoid costly Dean Huijsen MISTAKE
Liverpool have been assessing different potential transfer targets all season long.
Two full-backs, a centre-back, a striker and potentially a midfielder were all on the shopping list.

In terms of the defensive side, Liverpool have already secured Jeremie Frimpong at right-back, and Milos Kerkez is being heavily considered for the left-back role with serious negotiations taking place.
Meanwhile, with regard to the centre-back position, Dean Huijsen was the name on everyone's lips.
At 20 years old, he was fresh off the back of an impressive break-out Premier League season with Bournemouth, and he already commands a spot in the starting XI of the Spanish national team.
In the end, Real Madrid were the only club that he was interested in and the Reds missed out, but despite all his talent and potential, Liverpool might be feeling lucky they weren't able to sign him.
Huijsen's controversial opinion on Sergio Ramos
Those in the Liverpool fanbase circles will have a deep-rooted hatred for the Spanish football legend that is Sergio Ramos, who was known for his devious tactics and lack of discipline on the pitch.
In case you aren't aware, the centre-back created a storm in the 2018 Champions League final between Real Madrid and the Reds, because of a challenge he made on Mohamed Salah.
The pair were involved in a tussle, but Ramos had the Egyptian's arm locked and as Ramos fell, he purposefully landed on Salah's arm, dislocating his shoulder and breaking Liverpool fans' hearts - or at least, that's how the incident is remembered on Merseyside. An intentional piece of sh*thousery.
Ever since, the Spaniard's name has created deep controversy and it is imperative that a Liverpool player either takes the same stance as the fans or keeps their opinions firmly to themselves.
Speaking to the media during his announcement as a Real Madrid player, Huijsen gave his view.
He said: "Sergio Ramos sent me a message the day I was official. He is my idol, I think he is the greatest centre-back in football." The exact words that would've created anguish in Liverpool.
Back in 2020, the Reds' Harvey Elliott spoke to The Athletic about an approach he received from Real Madrid back in 2018, where he was offered the chance to see Sergio Ramos in person and the boyhood Liverpool fan declined the opportunity, referencing the incident that Ramos had with Salah.
Furthermore, there was outrage a couple of weeks ago when Trent Alexander-Arnold confirmed his move to Real Madrid and some historic quotes from the homegrown Liverpool player were revealed.
Also in 2018, he spoke to The Guardian about Ramos and said: "Everyone has their ways of winning and he has shown over the last 10 years that he's a winner. So has his team. To win the Champions League three times in a row takes some doing.
"Ramos has probably been the best centre-back in the world for some time. Even if he was the enemy in May, you still have to respect him as a player."
As you would expect, this notion of almost excusing what Ramos did to Salah as if it were even remotely okay, claiming it's just part of his 'winning-mentality' and nothing else created uproar.

So even though Huijsen would have been an extremely good transfer from the club, it's clear that the fans would have struggled to warm to him given the player's views on one of their main enemies.
