Stunning playmaker PREFERS Liverpool transfer

Liverpool appear to have one of Europe’s best playmakers in the palm of their hand - if they want to sign him.

Liverpool are fully into the transfer market now. The contract situations are sorted, even if not all to the Reds’ liking, and they’re even on the brink of their first signing.

Jeremie Frimpong is almost certainly signing for the club. He’s now expected to fly into Liverpool on Sunday, have a medical on Monday, and potentially sign his deal.

The release clause in his contract allows for Liverpool to sign him at a fairly bargain price - around €35m. For a homegrown 24-year-old with title-winning experience? It’s hard not to be on board with it all.

But Liverpool also won’t stop there. They’re planning to make several signings in this window as they attempt to improve on a title-winning squad.

This will be a squad built with Arne Slot in mind - something he hasn’t actually had at Liverpool yet. Despite the title win.

The big question, then, is who will Liverpool choose? It appears they have their pick of most of Europe. Including of one of the most exciting young playmakers around.

Liverpool can sign Rayan Cherki

Rayan Cherki will leave Lyon this summer - the player himself confirmed that after their final game of the season this weekend. Now we just need to wait and see who snaps him up.

Liverpool have certainly been linked with him. Le Parisien claims there has been contact, with the Reds seeking more information about a deal.

Give Me Sport, though, claims Tottenham Hotspur currently lead the race. They’ve made ‘fresh contact’ in May to try and get a deal done for Cherki.

However, the same report suggests Cherki’s actual preferred destination is Anfield. Liverpool top the player’s own list of moves - it’s just down to whether the club actually want him.

And that’s an interesting one. The links to Florian Wirtz in recent days suggest Liverpool certainly do want to sign a playmaker.

At the same time, Wirtz will take priority and the Reds certainly won’t sign both. Any move for Cherki will depend on Liverpool failing with their pursuit of the German - only then could they potentially target Lyon’s star.

How badly do they want a new playmaker? Is it a case of wanting one or wanting Wirtz? If it’s the latter, we imagine Spurs are free to sign Cherki. If it’s the former, he’s a legitimate option for Liverpool.
