Liverpool have been tipped for a stunning summer makeover. Firstly, several star players are in the frame to LEAVE with Richard Hughes and Arne Slot seeking to raise funds in the transfer window.

We could see plenty of attacking talent depart - with Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota heading the list. Others - like Federico Chiesa and Luis Diaz may also go while Ben Doak could be sacrificed in order to generate more income.

Those sales would leave Liverpool with plenty of gaps to fill and Arne Slot would like to have lots of forwards at his disposal - as previously reported.

One player who could come to the club as a bargain transfer is Lyon’s Rayan Cherki. The 21-year-old is delivering on his potential for his hometown club this season - scoring 12 goals and adding 19 assists in all competitions.

And, intriguingly, the French under-21 international has a “gentleman’s agreement” to leave the club this summer if a bid of around €30m is lodged.

Cherki wants Liverpool

Cherki only has one year left on his contract and given his talent and potential he could prove to be a steal. It promises to be a dogfight for Cherki - with Manchester City and Newcastle also credited with interest.

But Liverpool’s advantage in the race for Cherki has now been revealed by GIVEMESPORT - with the Frenchman reportedly declaring his preference is to sign for the Premier League champions.

It does add the caveat, however, that Arne Slot has not yet been persuaded to take the plunge and sign the versatile attacker.

Primarily stationed on the right, the two-footed playmaker can also play in behind a frontman as well as on the opposite side.

“Cherki wants to join Liverpool this summer,” the report states. “…but there is some scepticism over whether Slot is prepared to grant the winger's wish as the Dutch tactician is pushing to make stringent personality checks and seeking very specific traits when considering his options in the transfer market.”

Cherki has been reaching out to potentially interested clubs ahead of the window opening. It was reported in January that Bayern Munich were interested but it now appears that the most likely destination is the Premier League.

Liverpool scouting Cherki in Europa League

“Cherki's agent has been eager to contact Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester United and Manchester City to discover whether they would be prepared to make a move for his services in the coming months,” the report reads.

“But he has already decided that he would be eager to head to Anfield.

“Liverpool's main competitors for Cherki, if they choose to up the ante, could prove to be Tottenham Hotspur as the north Londoners have a genuine interest and Manchester United's admiration has faded even though he is in line to be available for as little as £25million.”

It’s also claimed that Liverpool were in attendance as Cherki ran riot against Manchester United over two legs in the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals.

“The Reds were among the sides to send scouts to watch the 21-year-old in action in the Europa League last month,” it reads.

“As Slot continues deliberating over whether to enter negotiations, and it has become increasingly likely that he will move onto pastures new when the transfer window reopens.”
