Liverpool open talks with Juventus for €60m striker
Liverpool have been mulling over a bid for the Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. The 25-year-old informed his club last week that he had NO wish to sign a new contract and instead would be seeking a move away from St. James’ Park.
Liverpool were immediately installed a favourites for the Sweden forward’s signature - are are prepared to pay a British record sum to sign him.
Isak would cost £130m+ and Liverpool at this stage would require sales to get the deal over the line. The process has kicked off with the departure of Luis Diaz to Bayern Munich. He is likely to sign for the Bavarians for a fee of around £65m.

That sum will put the Reds towards funding Isak - but Darwin Nunez is ANOTHER player who could find himself edged out.
Nunez suggested as £60m-rated departure
It’s no secret that Arne Slot wasn’t exactly won over by the Uruguayan during the Premier League title-winning season in 2024/25.
Nunez, 26, only scored FIVE league goals and was suggested as a potential departure as early as January. Liverpool declined to sell him to either Al-Nassr or Al-Hilal owing to a lack of alternatives available but he is available for the right price this summer.
Al-Hilal are right there once again but it would appear the player’s preference is to remain in Europe. Atletico Madrid and Napoli have seemingly fallen away from the bidding but Nunez could get a Serie A move with Juventus.
That’s according to a new report in Football Italia, which claims Juve have got Nunez on the list in case they cannot sort out a permanent deal for Randal Kolo Muani.
Nunez named as Kolo Muani backup
The France international spent the second half of last season on loan at Juve - and the Italian side would dearly love to conclude a deal for him this summer.
But if they cannot match Paris Saint-Germain’s demands then they are willing to pursue other targets including Nunez.
“Juventus are continuing talks to keep Randal Kolo Muani from Paris Saint-Germain, but have also asked Liverpool for information on the Darwin Nunez situation,” the report reads.
“Juve are also sounding out other alternatives for the attack and in the last few hours reached out to Liverpool.”
Juve offer a little on the low side
The report puts a price of €50m down for Nunez - which would be a little on the low side as €60m has been suggested as a reasonable asking price. Nunez could end up costing £85m should all his add-ons be met - admittedly very unlikely at this stage.
But he is under contract until 2028 and Richard Hughes is showing his mettle by driving hard bargains for Jarell Quansah and Diaz.
It has been suggested that the Reds No9 could leave on a loan this summer - with Juventus obligated to pick him up on a permanent deal next year instead.
“Juventus would have to make this a paid loan with obligation to buy, but for the moment Kolo Muani continues to be the preferred candidate,” the report reads.

It’s not an ideal bid being outlined in Turin but Liverpool WILL require Nunez to leave - and for a hefty sum too - in order to facilitate a deal for Isak.
