Club ready to make 'enquiry' to strike mega deal

We've reached a crossroads with Harvey Elliott and it's difficult to know what to do with him.

The Liverpool fans adore him because he displays ambition and youthful exuberance on the pitch whenever he is given minutes, but he might also be one of our more disposable assets.

At 22 years old, the world is still very much at his feet and it is not beyond the realms of possibility that he could go on to become an incredibly important player for us over the next few years.

But the difference between him playing under Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot is massive. Before the Dutchman arrived, Elliott played 5092 minutes in his previous two campaigns, scoring nine times and assisting 13 goals - an impressive feat for a guy in his early 20s.

This season, however, he has spent most of his time on the sidelines and the debate over his future is rife - he adores the club and wants to prove himself, but would he benefit more from a move away?

Premier League clubs are lining up to enquire about his services next season and a decision needs to be reached sooner rather than later. He's as devoted as they come and he shouldn't be strung along.

Wolves add themselves into the mix for Elliott

It has been widely reported that Manchester United are heavily interested in signing Matheus Cunha from the Birmingham-based club and if he leaves, he will need to be replaced.

According to Give Me Sport, Wolves are interested in making Elliott that replacement.

The report claims: "Wolves are likely to make an enquiry over the possibility of being able to strike a deal for Elliott.

"Although there is an awareness that the midfielder will not come cheap, thanks to Liverpool seeking up to £50m for his services, Wanderers will boost their budget by a significant margin and find themselves in a better position to open negotiations if they sanction big-name departures.

"GMS sources have been informed that Wolves would look to make Elliott the centrepiece of their plans if they can reach an agreement with their domestic counterparts and turn his head after being handed limited game time this season, but he has had stopped short of making a final decision over his future."

Unlike some players, it is clear that the idea of leaving the Reds isn't on the 22-year-old's radar. We have just won the Premier League, with the trophy lift coming in a few weeks. Why would you leave?

But this approach should be taken with he upmost seriousness. Is there genuinely a future where Elliott becomes the centre-piece for Liverpool, while Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai are dominating the midfield?

He's not the finished article yet, so perhaps it's a little difficult to judge right now, but he will need time to develop in order to grow as a player and Slot seems unwilling to give him regular minutes.

Just a few days ago, we put Elliott in our four players who could save their Liverpool careers this month - given that the remaining Premier League games are essentially pre-season friendlies now.

However, once given the opportunity to showcase his talents, he struggled and his performance was representative of why his future is uncertain. It was his first league start of the season and it showed.

Of course, when he is given an extended run in the team, he can transform into a totally different player, but those who watch him on the training field every day seemingly aren't impressed.

As such, we are at a crossroads. Whether Wolves decide to act on their enquiry will go a long way to deciding the young players fate, but it is difficult to know how to what do with him moving forward.
