Liverpool offered chance to sign €100m forward
Liverpool ended up completing an attacking overhaul during the summer transfer window. We saw Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez, Harvey Elliott and Ben Doak depart the club - with Arne Slot and Richard Hughes determined to improve their options.
And the initial signs are promising - with Hugo Ekitike getting off to a flying start and two players on board who broke the British transfer record one after the other.

Florian Wirtz was signed from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee that could reach £116m while Alexander Isak was eventually prised from Newcastle for £125m.

The Geordies held out until deadline day in the Isak deal - meaning several names were floated as potential alternatives throughout the summer window.
Liverpool were heavily linked with Rodrygo
One such player was Rodrygo Goes, 24. The Brazil international finds himself on the fringes of things at Real Madrid these days - with Xabi Alonso preferring other options in his first-choice attacking unit.
The presence of Vinicius Junior and Kylian Mbappe means two slots are automatically taken up - while the return of Jude Bellingham will also have to be worked out.
Rodrygo is a two-time Champions League winner and probably good enough to start for most other teams in Europe - although Liverpool have no space for the winger right now.
Rodrygo WAS offered to Liverpool
He was linked heavily with Arsenal and Tottenham as well through the summer but ultimately stayed put at the Bernabeu - where he will be until January at least.
It looks like Manchester City will be the main contenders for his signature as Pep Guardiola is described as a long-term fan of the player.
That’s according to a new report in Caught Offside - which also reveals that Rodrygo was OFFERED to Liverpool over the summer.
Man City now favourites for Rodrygo
“His agents offered him to Liverpool,” the report reads.
Although he’s played the majority of his football in recent seasons on the right, Rodrygo actually prefers the left wing.
However, owing to the presence of Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha in the Liverpool squad, the Reds would not be able to make use of Rodrygo in the current setup.
Plus with the asking price being quoted at between €80m and €100m - it doesn’t represent good value given he would be blocking Ngumoha’s pathway.
Maybe City do end up with Rodrygo over the winter window but Liverpool will be optimistic of being well clear of their so-called rivals by then.
