Newcastle SEAL Alexander Isak’s fate with dubious decision
Newcastle United appear to have sealed Alexander Isak's fate with a dubious decision. Liverpool are watching closely.
Journalist Craig Hope is among those claiming that Newcastle United will not let Alexander Isak leave unless they find a striker. Honestly, that’s fair enough.
Newcastle had two centre-forwards last season in Isak and Callum Wilson, with the latter leaving at the end of his contract. It leaves the Swede as their only option - and he’s refusing to even train, let alone play.

And so with Liverpool eager to sign Isak, they’re left hoping Newcastle can find some sort of replacement. Thus far that’s been a failure.
Newcastle have watched several strikers reject their overtures for elsewhere. Now they’ve run into a problem with Brentford, who want £60m to let Yoane Wissa leave - the Magpies won’t pay more than £40m.
Their latest plan doesn’t seem like a good one, either. It might even seal Isak’s fate.
Newcastle's striker hunt
The Athletic now claims that Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen is the latest choice at Newcastle. Or at least, he's one of the players on their shortlist and they're in early talks with his people over a potential move.
No talks with Wolves yet, however.
From a Liverpool standpoint, this doesn't look good, if only because we don't see any chance that Wolves sell. They've already lost Matheus Cunha this summer and Strand Larsen feels like their best shot at not getting relegated.
Thus what's his valuation to them? They'd need to replace him late in the window with at least as good of a talent - and that takes more money than they'd get for him.
His valuation, then, is tied to Premier League survival. If this is truly where Newcastle have fallen to - trying to get a deal like this done before the window shuts - we don't see them letting Isak go.
Their continued struggles to find any striker threaten ending this deal completely. This is just the latest sign of that.
