Liverpool’s worst fears over Conor Bradley were confirmed with the news that the Northern Irishman would miss the remainder of the season.

Bradley, 22, suffered a knee injury during the goalless draw against Arsenal last week - facing surgery which will now keep him sidelined for quite some time.

The right-back signed a new contract at Anfield back in summer with sporting director Richard Hughes putting faith in Bradley to be the club’s long-term solution in the position.

Having sold Trent Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid for £10m, the Premier League champions opted to promote Bradley to first choice - and also acquired Jeremie Frimpong from Bayer Leverkusen for £29m.

Liverpool on alert for Monaco's Vanderson

But Arne Slot has had problems in that position all season long - owing to injuries to that pair - and has given minutes to the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai and Joe Gomez at right-back.

It’s obvious that Liverpool could do with adding cover at right-back for the rest of the seas0n - even if the message out of the club right now is that no signings will be made in January.

Liverpool have however been alerted to the availability of a long-term right-back target in the shape of Vanderson - who is tipped to leave Monaco this January.

The 24-year-old is another player who has suffered a stop-start season owing to injury - but looks finally set to be on the comeback trail.

Vanderson interested in Premier League move

Under contract at the Stade Louis II until 2028, Vanderson could well provide the ideal solution for the rest of the season and beyond.

According to a report in TEAMtalk Vanderson is among three right-backs named as potential Liverpool targets.

Work is being done behind the scenes to assess Feyenoord’s Givairo Read and Benfica’s Daniel Banjaqui - while Brazil international Vanderson could well end up being the right-back who makes the move.

“Liverpool have been made aware of the potential availability of other full-backs players such as Vanderson – who could be available this month,” the report reads.

“The 24-year-old Brazilian is being heavily linked with moves away from Monaco and is thought to be open to joining a Premier League side.”

Vanderson joined the Ligue 1 side from Gremio back in January 2022 for around £10m and would be expected to fetch around twice that in any outbound deal.
