Mo Salah replacement delivers INSANE Liverpool come and get me plea
The heat is firmly on Mohamed Salah right now, and things went up a notch on Saturday night.
He might've signed a contract extension in April, but the next two years are going to be quite uncomfortable if Liverpool's current situation under Arne Slot lingers on for any longer.
Salah's role as one of the first names on the Reds' team sheet has been disturbed, and in spite of Liverpool getting a win against West Ham with the Egyptian on the sidelines, it's clear that Slot's change in strategy has not been successful. The structure from last season's title win has gone.
Problematically, we've had reports this week linking the club with a potential replacement for the 33-year-old, and given his current circumstances at Liverpool, it's difficult not to read between the lines.
Liverpool's right-wing target outshines Salah
On Saturday evening, Slot went bold once again with his starting XI, leaving Salah out and deciding against giving him any minutes throughout the contest against Leeds, despite the team drawing 3-3.
It's the third time in a week that we've seen it happen, with the West Ham game being the first, and Sunderland the second, although the Egyptian was at least substituted on at half-time in midweek.
Given he's only available for Inter Milan away on Tuesday and Anfield's hosting of Brighton next weekend, before he goes to Morocco to meet up with the Egypt national team to play in AFCON, it's particularly baffling to see the club's modern great be treated in such a way.
He's been out of form when you consider his usual standards, but comparatively, his stats in front of goal really aren't that bad. Five goals and three assists in 1523 minutes of play in all competitions.
But, while he was sat on the bench feeling frustrated at the head coach's decision, a potential replacement for the great man was balling out in Germany, making a plea for Liverpool to buy him.
Sky Sports revealed earlier this week that Yan Diomande at RB Leipzig is a winger prospect who Liverpool rate quite highly, with an approach being made to understand the conditions for a deal.
And on Saturday evening, he scored a hat-trick against Eintracht Frankfurt, as part of a 6-1 win.
In 87 minutes, the 19-year-old right-winger created 0.97xg for his three strikes, made four successful dribbles, a key pass, five recoveries and won six of his thirteen duels. It was a clinical masterclass.
It's expected that he'll be flying out next week to meet up with his Ivory Coast teammates to play in AFCON, since that's now five goals and an assist in his last six games for the German side. He's a player on the rise and it makes a lot of sense why Liverpool would be keeping a close eye on him.
What this means for Salah is uncertain. Almost simultaneously, we've seen a rise in reports linking the club legend with a move to Saudi Arabia, if he feels the time is right for him to leave Merseyside, although it would require an extraordinary turnaround in the club's position to back the Egyptian.
He's always tried his best for the Reds and despite the adversity we're going through right now, it's important to not make rash decisions. Salah still has an enormous role to play for us going forward.
