Milos Kerkez deal status after DEADLINE passes
This summer is a unique one for Liverpool because not only are we likely to spend an inordinate amount amount of money, but there are two transfer windows to negotiate.
FIFA's new Club World Cup has changed the way Europe's team will have to operate.
EXCLUSIVE: Wonderkid will join Liverpool first team in pre-season
A mini 10-day transfer window was put in place between June 1 and June 10, which is now officially closed, and the remainder of the summer's recruitment business will have to be put on hold until June 16 when the window re-opens for 77 days before it finally closes again on September 1.
Liverpool have been able to utilise the early period to great effect by bringing in Jeremie Frimpong from Leverkusen after triggering his £29.8m release clause on May 30.
Since then, however, the club has been in serious negotiations for other players, but the question now on everyone's minds is what happens now that the transfer window is shut? Here's the answer.
What happens with Milos Kerkez and Florian Wirtz?
Well, the simple answer is this - Liverpool will continue to negotiate deals for them, and contracts will be signed once everything is agreed, but the moves won't become formal until June 16.
Just like what happened with Frimpong before the initial mini-window opened, everything can progress as it ordinarily would, but the formalities will will just be left in the air for the time being.
In his latest update, Fabrizio Romano said: "Milos Kerkez to Liverpool remains [a] matter of (short) time, with final round of talks taking place very soon. The deal won't be completed today, but soon #LFC will meet again with Bournemouth to get it done."
As such, we're still in the waiting game. Once everything is sorted, you are still likely to see Fabrizio's 'Here We Go' on social media in the next six days and Liverpool will be able to conduct medical tests and the media team will make the content they require, all before June 16 arrives if it unfolds that way.
Furthermore, the situation is exactly the same with Florian Wirtz.
In his last update on the German's saga, Fabrizio Romano said: "Liverpool are advancing to complete Wirtz deal in [the] next days, here we go soon. Negotiations [are] at [the] final stages with details being sorted then Wirtz will travel for [his] medical, plan confirmed."
As such, nothing changes. Everything that you would expect to happen will happen, but the details of the move will only become finalised when the window opens again on June 16.
The club's last approach for Wirtz - a package of £100m and £13m in add-ons - was rejected by Leverkusen, but it is understood that add-ons of £18m might be enough to let him go to Liverpool.
With so much time left for transfers to be conducted, the club will want to ensure that every little detail is right before discussions come to an end, in both deals, and so patience is required.
EXCLUSIVE: Ex-Liverpool star issues ‘amazing’ Milos Kerkez transfer verdict
But unlike clubs such as Manchester City and Chelsea, the Reds are not in a rush to register their players into any squad lists for the Club World Cup. Pre-season in mid-July will be the aim.
