Michael Olise 'expected' to JOIN Liverpool because of Nicolas Jackson agreement

Bayern Munich completed a very expensive deadline day deal for Nicolas Jackson. The Chelsea striker, 24, moves to Bavaria on an initial one-season loan with the German champions having an obligation to buy.

Jackson has been forced out of Stamford Bridge owing to the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro and never really appeared to possess the pedigree to lead the line for a club like Chelsea.

Still, he found himself as a man in demand this summer - with even Liverpool reported to be interested at one stage. According to Bayern Space on X, the overall package is set to reach £75m - and that’s before Jackson’s sizeable salary is included.

For a player on the Chelsea bench, the deal has certainly raised some eyebrows. And the same source now claims that the conclusion of a permanent Jackson deal could hand-deliver Michael Olise to the Reds.

Olise, 23, has long been considered a Liverpool transfer target - with the Anfield club even linked with the France international during the summer transfer window.

Bayern Space has previously claimed that the ex-Crystal Palace star had a release clause in his contract - which Liverpool, Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain intended to activate in 2026.

And now the claim has emerged that Bayern sporting director Max Eberl has pledged to pay for Jackson’s permanent deal through the sale of either Harry Kane or Olise next year.

“Max Eberl managed to push the permanent Nicolas Jackson transfer through by assuring Bayern’s supervisory board that no fresh funds would be required next summer,” Bayern Space writes.

“He argued that the money for squad planning would be generated through the sale of high-caliber players, with other clubs expected to trigger the release clauses of names such as Michael Olise and Harry Kane.

“The board accepted this reasoning and gave its approval, leaving Jackson to stand as Bayern’s second most expensive signing of all time.”

The existence of such a release clause has been cast into doubt by reports elsewhere in the German media. But it looks like a positive sign for the Reds if Bayern have to offset the acquisition of Jackson by selling one of their other stars.

With Mo Salah’s contract expiring in 2027, sporting director Richard Hughes will no doubt be right there if the opportunity arises to sign Olise - one of the finest playmaking talents in Europe.
