England star lets slip reason for WANTING Liverpool move

Liverpool want to sign an England star in the next week. Now the player has let slip one reason for wanting the move.

Will Marc Guehi join Liverpool? It's incredibly difficult to say right now as the Reds and Crystal Palace talk.

The transfer deadline is a little over a week away, after all. A deal hasn't been struck but both teams want to find a deal.

Palace don't want to lose Guehi for free at the end of his contract next year. That will almost certainly happen if they don't agree on a fee before September 1st.

Liverpool do want to sign Guehi but there isn't any great need for him. The Reds have four centre-backs as it is - the Palace captain would be a bit of overkill.

Though, Liverpool want to sign Guehi. Maybe it's next year for free but maybe it's on a cut-price deal this month.

Such a deal would eliminate any competition for his signature in 2026. Because right now, Liverpool lead the race for Guehi and appear to be the only club trying to sign him.

If he moves, it'll be to Liverpool and he's reportedly eager to get a deal done. The BBC say it's likely, in fact.

Guehi has plenty of reasons for wanting to join Liverpool. He can compete for the biggest trophies, almost certainly earn more money, and play UEFA Champions League football.

But it appears there's another reason for chasing the move. Guehi, in an interview with the BBC, mentioned that his mates have all moved away from London, heading abroad or, notably, to Manchester and Liverpool.

It's yet another reason for Guehi to push this move forward. One that appears to benefit him socially and professionally.

Of course, Guehi isn't the only player Liverpool hope to sign next week. Alexander Isak sits at the top of their shortlist and the Reds will be dreaming of both.

But there's still a long way to go. Palace do want to sell, Liverpool do want to buy - but not necessarily at the same price.
