Manager launches NUCLEAR quit threat over Marc Guehi deadline day bid
Liverpool were frustrated in their attempts to sign Marc Guehi from Crystal Palace on Monday.
The Reds had the sign-off from the England international over a £35m move - and even applied for extra time beyond the 7pm deadline to conclude the deal.

But Palace - despite originally agreeing to sell - pulled the plug on the deal owing to a failure to land an adequate replacement for the 25-year-old.

The Eagles had planned to add Brazilian stopper Igor Julio from Brighton on loan for the season but West Ham hijacked that deal on deadline day.
Glasner hinted he would WALK
The FA Cup holders were therefore unwilling to sanction a move for their captain - whose contract expires in 2026.
Of course Steve Parish - the club chairman - has just burned £35m due to his decision to retain Guehi but there was ALSO a big part to play by Oliver Glasner.
The Austrian head coach delivered a trophy for Palace last season and reportedly made a QUIT threat to his club in the event that Guehi was sold. That’s according to a new report in TBR Football - with Glasner also out of contract at the end of this season.
Guehi out of contract in 2026
“Oliver Glasner has persuaded Steve Parish that he cannot let him go,” the report reads.
“Guehi has accepted the decision. Glasner is very happy. He didn’t offer to quit outright but I am told he did suggest it.”
Losing their head coach three games into the season would have been a disaster for Palace - particularly since he has them punching above their weight in the Premier League.
It may well be the case that both Guehi AND Glasner leave for new clubs next summer - and Liverpool will be dearly hoping the defender lands at Anfield.
Will Liverpool be back?
Liverpool look a player light at centre-back - with Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez as their only senior options.
It remains to be seen how much first-team football Giovanni Leoni gets given he is untested at the Premier League level and is aged only 18. Guehi would have been an ideal candidate to arrive - particularly in light of Konate’s expiring contract.
