Liverpool can take advantage of Manchester United's 'difficult deal'. Another massive signing might be on the way.

Manchester United are pushing hard to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton. The midfielder is unquestionably one of the biggest midfield talents in the Premier League right now - hence why it's so difficult to sign him.

Brighton aren't eager to let him go, with prices being quoted around £100m. Fabrizio Romano has shared exactly why that is.

"Man United keep working on Carlos Baleba deal," he wrote on Twitter. "Sales (Garnacho, Antony, Sancho) could be key for higher bid.

"Initial approach to discuss with Brighton ready, deal difficult; BHAFC want to keep + eventually sell in 2026.

"Carlos, keen on the move."

We're not surprised that Baleba wants the move - United are a massive club who would pay him a lot of money. However, they're going to struggle to convince Brighton here.

And that's where Liverpool can come in.

Liverpool and Carlos Baleba

We're big fans of Baleba and view him as an ideal midfielder for Liverpool. It's just not going to happen this summer with so many other transfers in the agenda.

2026, though? That makes a lot of sense. Wataru Endo almost certainly leaves next summer, while attention will be on the midfield after working so hard on the defence and attack this time around.

Liverpool will have the funds to make a big-money midfield move, too. Baleba will almost certainly be near the top of their list as a beautiful fit next to the likes of Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister at the base of midfield.

But that's only possible if Brighton get their way. United want the deal to happen this summer as there's essentially no competition this late in the window.

Brighton would prefer to hold on for a year. They will almost certainly secure a similar price in 2026 - possibly even more - and they get to hold onto a brilliant player for another season.

We're crossing our fingers that they get their way, then. If they do, Liverpool will be in a fantastic position to snap Baleba up and everyone gets what they want. Except for United.

This 'difficult' deal is absolutely Liverpool's to take advantage of.
