Liverpool chasing a THIRD Leverkusen 'Invincible'
Liverpool are plotting a big summer overhaul in the transfer market. Despite winning the Premier League title, the Reds are not standing still.
Arne Slot oversaw the club’s 20th top-flight success and did it largely with Jurgen Klopp’s players. Only Federico Chiesa came in last summer and he was widely seen as a Richard Hughes signing.

Having effectively opted out of the transfer window for the past year, it now looks like Liverpool will commit to a major summer campaign.

One of the first names on the list is Jeremie Frimpong of Bayer Leverkusen. The 24-year-old right wing-back will seal his move to Anfield in the coming hours, providing world-class options on the right.
Richard Hughes is also reported to be chasing another Leverkusen target in the shape of Florian Wirtz. This deal looks a lot more complex than Frimpong, given that the Dutchman has a €35m Leverkusen release clause.
Frimpong, Wirtz and Hincapie wanted by Liverpool
Wirtz, 22, is instead expected to go for anything up to €150m - even though his current contract only extends until 2027. But competition for Wirtz is fierce with Bayern Munich still reckoned to be leading the chase for the Germany international.
And now Fichajes in Spain is claiming that Liverpool are seeking to add a THIRD Leverkusen player during the summer window. The player in question is defender Piero Hincapie, who has long been on the Reds’ radar.
The 23-year-old plays mostly at centre-back, but can also play left-back and even left midfield.
Like Frimpong and Wirtz, he has been a mainstay of the Xabi Alonso era, winning the Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double in 2024 as well as reaching the Europa League final.
Hincapie valued at €70m
It has previously been reported that Hincapie would cost €70m, with his contract not expiring until 2029.
A full Ecuador international, Hincapie could provide an alternative solution for Slot at left-back, as well as a natural successor to Virgil van Dijk in the centre of defence.
Intriguingly the report also names Milos Kerkez as a potential recruit once again, suggesting that Hincapie is seen primarily as a centre-back option by Reds recruiters.

With Alonso leaving for Real Madrid it feels like the end of an era for Leverkusen’s “invincibles”, who won the league and German cup last season without losing a game. And Liverpool could be the destination for three of those all-conquering stars.
