Liverpool get HUGE Joao Pedro boost as Brighton plan replacement
Liverpool are set for a summer shakeup in the striker department. Sporting director Richard Hughes and head coach Arne Slot have been tipped to clear the decks in order to make way for new signings.
Diogo Jota and Darwin Nunez are among the contenders to leave should suitable bids materialise. And if they are moved on then there is no doubt that Slot and Hughes will waste no time in signing upgrades.

Centre-forward was a problem position for the Reds during their title-winning campaign with Luis Diaz often filling in as a stop-gap solution. Plenty of potential improvements in the position have been suggested - ranging from Jonathan David to Alexander Isak.

And one other potential name on the list has been Joao Pedro of Brighton. The 23-year-old Brazilian has been on Michael Edwards’ radar since he was a teenager.
He moved to Brighton from Watford back in 2023 for a club-record fee, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists this season.
There are signs that the Brazil international may be sold this summer and a recent report suggested the Seagulls were ready to reduce their asking price to only £60m.
Given Joao Pedro’s age and pedigree, that is an attractive fee especially since he looks a good match for the Reds’ style of play.
Are Brighton preparing to move on from Joao Pedro?
Now comes a new clue from Sky Sports Switzerland that Brighton are preparing to move on from Joao Pedro.
A report concerning transfer interest in Union SG striker Promise David mentions that Brighton have identified the 23-year-old Canadian as a potential signing from their sister club.
The 6’5 centre-forward has been in incredible form for Union this season and looks set to take the next step in his career.
If Brighton see fit to bring him in - not to mention the arrival of Stefanos Tzimas - then it could mean a succession plan is already in place for Joao Pedro.
Brighton want Promise David
“Promise David has made it clear to his sporting management that he wishes to consider offers from abroad, even if discussions are already taking place internally in order to convince the main interested party to sign a contract extension, with an exit voucher from 2026,” a report reads.
“While Promise David is considering this offer from the Belgian club's sporting director, Chris O'Loughlin, the man with twenty-two goals scored in thirty-nine games remains receptive to various approaches, particularly from England, where Leeds and Brighton are also very interested in his profile.
“Joao Pedro is also considered a possible alternative to Liverpool if the Reds were to lose Darwin Núñez and fail to secure the hoped-for arrival of Alexander Isak.”

David played for teams in Malta and Estonia before emerging as a breakout star in the Belgian league. With Union also in the network of Brighton owner Tony Bloom, there is no doubt that the Premier League side will have already done their homework.
