A former favourite of Jurgen Klopp's has opened the door to a £80m Liverpool deal on deadline day. Things could move fast.

Jadon Sancho is now set to join Aston Villa on loan from Manchester United. It's a surprise deal - one that didn't appear to be reported anywhere ahead of the deadline here.

But Fabrizio Romano has given it his Here We Go, saying a deal is in place and the formal steps are all that's left. Villa add a new left-winger to their squad with that - and a homegrown one.

Sancho's career has taken a nose-dive in recent years, of course. He was once a favourite of Jurgen Klopp's, who was eager to sign him from Borussia Dortmund for Liverpool.

That never materialised, mainly because United inflated his fee and wages to such a degree that Liverpool weren't willing to take the risk. Sancho's career at Old Trafford has been truly awful, however, justifying none of the money and making it incredibly difficult to get his wages off their books.

Villa are the latest club to take a chance on him, though. And in doing that they've opened a door for Liverpool.

Morgan Rogers to Liverpool?

Is Morgan Rogers to Liverpool now on, then? Liverpool have been linked with the Villa man, along with Chelsea, as a surprise late move.

Sancho joining Villa makes things a little more interesting, then. He's potentially a replacement for Rogers, operating in a somewhat similar role from the left.

There are now links with Harvey Elliott, too, and the pair of them certainly cover Rogers. Liverpool might just have the money to make it happen as well, should Elliott depart for a fee.

Though, on that one, Villa are looking at a loan deal and the Reds have already rejected an offer from RB Leipzig today. So we'll just have to see.

But that's the magic of deadline day. Rogers is potentially on the cards but we've got so many moving parts here that it's difficult to know how realistic it truly is.

Let's see what happens.
