Harvey Elliott could be coming to the end of his Liverpool career. The Reds have reportedly made a fantastic pick to replace him, though.

There's really not much time left in this transfer window. The deadline is rapidly approaching and Liverpool have got business to do.

One important piece of business is sorting out Harvey Elliott's future. The playmaker has been heavily linked with a move to RB Leipzig and reportedly wants the move.

That's not exactly a surprise, given Elliott barely played last season. In fact, it's a bit of a surprise that he's still at the club - as much as we'd love him to stay.

Leipzig have just sold Xavi Simons to Tottenham Hotspur, however. That creates a need for a replacement, of course, as well as giving them the cash to make it happen.

A move for Elliott may well go through before the deadline, though they'd need to present an offer Liverpool are happy with. We'll see on that.

But it also appears that Liverpool have got their eyes on a replacement. And a fantastic one at that.

Liverpool eye Morgan Rogers

Reports on Friday suggest Liverpool are in the market for Morgan Rogers ahead of the transfer deadline. Exactly how likely a move is remains unclear - though, Aston Villa appear to be eyeing potential replacements.

This is far from the first time that Liverpool have been linked. The Reds are reportedly massive fans of his and with good reason - Rogers ticks all the right boxes.

He's still young, having only turned 23 last month and would help fill the homegrown quota. Those are two things Liverpool would lose should Elliott leave.

But they would gain a player who arguably fits the profile of a Liverpool midfielder under Arne Slot a little bit better. Slot appears to prefer tall, physical players in those roles, with Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai fitting the mould.

Of course, Florian Wirtz isn't of that profile but he's also Florian Wirtz. His track record goes beyond preferences.

And so Rogers looks the part, ticks the boxes and more importantly, just had a magnificent first full Premier League season. Eight goals and 10 assists - neither number particularly ahead of his xG - with another four goals in the UEFA Champions League.

Rogers has quickly shown himself to be exactly the kind of player you invest in. One who has rapidly adapted to moving up a level and showing the qualities of a far more experienced player.

There's a long, long way to go before Liverpool could actually sign Rogers but this would be a pretty incredible plan. Let's see what the transfer deadline holds.
