These are crucial hours in the Liverpool career of Federico Chiesa.

The 28-year-old was signed from Juventus back in September 2024 - agreeing a contract until 2028.

It was expected that the experienced Italy international would be the back-up to Mohamed Salah - but barely got a look in under Arne Slot in his first season at Anfield.

Chiesa has been linked with the Liverpool exit practically every window since he arrived - but knuckled down last summer to become a bonafide first-team option.

The winger has scored two Premier League goals this season - despite having to fight hard for every minute he gets.

It’s clear Arne Slot does not see the versatile forward as a starter in the top flight - offering him only one outing from the beginning this term.

Juventus relaunch Chiesa bid

Chiesa has got plans to make it back into Gennaro Gattuso’s Italian squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup qualification playoffs. But if the Reds’ No14 has not got first-team football under his belt then he might find the breakthrough difficult to come by.

That’s what a move back to Serie A should appeal to Chiesa - who has got Juventus chasing him in the closing days of the window.

According to a report in Calcio Mercato the Old Lady of Italian football are ready to turn to their former forward having been knocked back in their chase for several other attacking targets.

The report states that Juve general manager - former Liverpool exec Damien Comolli - tried to trash out a deal with the Anfield club earlier this window but was put off owing to the asking price.

Liverpool want £13m for Chiesa

The Premier League champions are sticking to their €15m (£13m) valuation for Chiesa and will only discuss a permanent transfer. Chiesa remains in contact with Juve however and IS willing to make a move back to Turin.

Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes is conducting a calculated gamble over Chiesa’s future - ensuring that if he does end up leaving he will do so for the full asking price.

That would leave Arne Slot next to no time to have a replacement in the squad for the second half of the season - with Salah and Jeremie Frimpong the only options left for the right-sided attacking berth.

Don’t be surprised if another Juve bid for Chiesa materialises before the end of the window and he ends up a Bianconeri player for the second time in his career.

Well-liked by Juve boss Luciano Spalletti - Chiesa previously starred for the tactician in the national team ranks.
