Fabrizio Romano hints at Liverpool move for striker approved by Richard Hughes
Liverpool are patiently waiting for things to fall into place for a deal for Alexander Isak.
The Newcastle forward has been unwavering in his desire to quit St. James’ Park - and Liverpool have already had one bid rejected for the Swede.

But the Geordies require TWO new forwards before they will even consider selling - and then Richard Hughes needs to get close to their £150m asking price.

Jorgen Strand Larsen has reportedly been told NO by his club Wolves regarding a move to Newcastle this summer and it remains to be seen what the outcome is in their negotiations for other forwards.
Nicolas Jackson affected by Isak fate
One player impacted by all of this is Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson. The 24-year-old is certainly surplus to requirements owing to the signings of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro but has been caught in a transfer limbo.
There is a loan offer on the table from Bayern Munich but Fabrizio Romano says Isak’s fate is tied up with the scramble for Jackson.
Chelsea now know that if Isak fails to get his move to Liverpool before the September 1 transfer deadline then other, better offers could materialise for Senegal international Jackson.
Chelsea are waiting for Isak outcome
“Chelsea are also waiting for the Alexander Isak Liverpool saga to finish in order to decide what they want to do with Jackson,” he tells his YouTube audience.
“Why? Because that saga still ongoing. Absolutely ongoing.
“That saga is going to influence many strikers in these final days of the window. This could impact many clubs in the Premier League.
“Let’s see what’s going to happen with Isak.
“Chelsea want to make sure that there are no better opportunities than a loan to Bayern before saying okay you can go to Bayern.”
Could Richard Hughes come back for Jackson
Could Liverpool have Jackson on the radar as a possible alternative to Isak? The striker has netted 24 times in 65 Premier League outings for the Blues.
And he is a player very much on the radar of Richard Hughes.
In fact the Liverpool sporting director tried to sign him from Villarreal when technical director at Bournemouth. The Cherries agreed a deal for Jackson in January 2023 but it fell through when he failed a medical.
It would be a surprise to see the Reds instigate this deal before the window closes but the fact remains they look a little light at centre-forward.
