Fabrizio Romano confirms Liverpool are ready to move for Alexander Isak alternatives
Time may well be running out for Liverpool to complete a deal for Alexander Isak.
Despite the striker’s long-standing commitment to leaving Newcastle in this transfer window, there has been NO progress in a transfer to Anfield.

The Reds’ sporting director Richard Hughes saw a £110m offer for the Swede rejected by the Geordies more than three weeks ago - and the Premier League champions haven’t been back since.

There are two crucial dominoes that need to fall before any transfer can be advanced.
Newcastle's difficult Isak conditions
Firstly, Newcastle need to sign two more strikers.
With Callum Wilson leaving the club on a free - and Isak’s future up in the air - their stance has ALWAYS been that they need to supplement their attacking options with two new faces.
Yoane Wissa is widely expected to be one of those incomings and it looks like Jorgen Strand Larsen may well be among the other options. But so far Newcastle have had no luck - meaning Liverpool cannot execute a deal for the 25-year-old.
Secondly, Liverpool are going to have to up their bid. Isak scored 23 league goals last season and is under contract at St. James’ Park until 2028.
Newcastle want around £150m for their prized asset - and Liverpool are going to have to get closer to that valuation.
Romano: Liverpool will look for Isak alternatives
Right now it’s probably a coin toss whether Isak actually ends up on Merseyside.
The transfer window closes on September 1 and although Isak is sticking to his stance of demanding to leave the North East there is a chance he remains a Newcastle player beyond the deadline.
That’s why Liverpool are now considering ALTERNATIVES to Isak - according to Fabrizio Romano.
Romano: Liverpool can't wait forever
Links to other out-and-out centre-forwards have been thin on the ground but there are reports suggesting Rodrygo or Bradley Barcola could be in the club’s sights.
Now Romano is delivering a warning to Liverpool over the Isak deal. “Liverpool remain there,” Romano told his YouTube audience. “Liverpool are still not advancing on other options. Liverpool are still having a total focus today, at least.
“Then, Liverpool can’t wait forever — that’s also clear. At some point, they need a striker. So if it’s not going to be Isak, they will need to look at the market.”
This is a crucial week for Liverpool in their hopes of landing the Sweden international. First we must await Newcastle advancing on a deal for a striking replacement. Then we hope Richard Hughes goes close to the valuation.
