Liverpool have found the signing they need to make. Another superstar could be on the way.

Liverpool are struggling to find top gear right now. Yes, they’re sitting at the top of the Premier League but the Reds haven’t been able to comfortably win yet.

Their last two fixtures have ended in defeat, too, and there’s a sense that they’re not really clicking. Now, the positive thing here - and it’s overwhelmingly positive - is that Liverpool have won nearly every game despite that.

Get things clicking together and suddenly Arne Slot’s team will absolutely thrive. No one can really doubt that.

But as of this moment, that hasn’t happened and there’s a sense that Liverpool need to alter things a bit. There was a massive overhaul this summer, after all, and it’s clearly not yet finished.

It means Liverpool are still on the lookout for new players and those who can gel this team together. We think they might have found one.

Liverpool eye perfect signing

One clear problem for Liverpool right now is their inability to get up the pitch consistently. They lack a proper outball from the back, allowing teams to press them high.

Now, losing Trent Alexander-Arnold is a massive reason for that. The biggest reason, in fact.

But that doesn’t mean Liverpool can’t fix the issue and we think they’ve found the ideal signing for it. The Reds are linked in Germany with Dayot Upamecano, who’s out of contract next year.

Upamecano is the type of centre-back who moves a team forward. In fact, this something he’s significantly better than Ibrahima Konate at, even if you sacrifice defensive solidity with the swap.

He’s the kind of player who can slice open a press and move a team up the pitch. He’s someone who can find midfielders in good positions and force opponents to fall back.

In other words, Upamecano is exactly what Liverpool are looking for right now. Signing him in January would be a challenge, even with only six months left, but one the Reds should take on.
