Liverpool have rejected an incredible amount of money for two of their forwards. Are they making the right call?

It's been a very expensive summer for Liverpool already. Florian Wirtz is mostly responsible for that: the German playmaker cost £100m.

But he's not the only expensive arrival. Jeremie Frimpong cost just shy of £30m, while Milos Kerkez cost over £40m.

The Reds have not been shy to spend money where they think it's needed. Only, they do need to spend more of it.

They're yet to replace Jarell Quansah in the squad, while it's been known for a while that they want a new no.9. Funding that kind of spend will require more sales, particularly up top.

But Liverpool aren't making that easy for themselves. They're holding out for quite a lot of money this summer - and have rejected offers already.

Liverpool reject big-money offers

Anfield Watch understands that Liverpool rejected two verbal offers for Luis Diaz early last week. They came from Bayern Munich and Barcelona, with €45m being the larger of the two.

There are reports in Germany that the Bayern offer was actually around €50m but the point still stands - it was far below the €80m asking price.

That's not the only rejection, though. Napoli put in an offer for Darwin Nunez for around €55m but Liverpool rejected that, too.

Anfield Watch understands that was rejected quite quickly. The Reds turned down £70m back in January from Al-Hilal and would want any sale to get a bit closer to that.

In all, though, Liverpool have turned down over €100m here. It's an enormous amount of money but they clearly feel there's even more to be had.

We know the asking price for Diaz is closer to €80m. It's possible Nunez has a similar tag, too.

All in all, Liverpool would only want to sell the pair for massive fees. We also get the feeling that they feel it's very possible - and this promises to be one of the major transfer stories this summer.

Get one sold and the Reds have enough money to do something special. Both? Then there places a lot of elite players on the table.

Rest in peace, Diogo Jota.
