Liverpool appear to be on course to seal a massive deal with Atlético Madrid. The Reds are getting their business done early.

Liverpool are set to sell some of their big-name players this summer. That's part and parcel of wanting to overhaul their forward line.

And that overhaul is firmly underway. Liverpool are on the brink of signing Florian Wirtz for over £100m in a record-breaking deal with Bayer Leverkusen.

But they don't intend to stop there. Liverpool have got big plans that could see a striker join shortly after the German playmaker.

Doing so would require player sales, however. One of those linked strongly with an exit is Darwin Núñez, who had an offer to leave Liverpool back in January.

As exclusively revealed by Anfield Watch, the Reds rejected a big-money bid from Saudi Arabia as they didn't want to sell mid-season.

That offer, as we understand it, came from Al-Hilal and they've been expected to return with an offer ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup. Only, they might have other ideas.

Darwin Núñez's future

Foot Mercato now reports that Al-Hilal are pushing hard to sign Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian is certain to move clubs this summer after spending a year on loan at Galatasaray from Napoli.

Osimhen to Al-Hilal would eliminate any need for them to sign Nunez. And while there are suggestions of other Saudi clubs wanting the Uruguayan, all signs appear to point to something different.

It seems Atletico Madrid are pushing hardest to sign Nunez, with reports from Spain suggesting he's given a green light. There are reports saying he's already looking for a house in Madrid, in fact, after Atletico became clear favourites to sign him.

So all the signs point this way. It seems Liverpool will be in real talks with Atletico before long, if not already, as the two clubs look to strike what could be a massive deal.

Liverpool would secure the money to strike further big deals, while Atletico get themselves a partner for Julian Alvarez. Unless, of course, they'd like to talk about him...
