Arne Slot ready to SELL midfielder to Fulham or Crystal Palace
Liverpool made the decision to part ways with Harvey Elliott last summer.
Although a loan deal was agreed with Aston Villa for the 22-year-old playmaker, it was widely expected that he had already played his last game for the Premier League champions.
That’s because an obligation for a permanent deal was inserted into the agreement - with Villa having to pay £35m for a transfer for the England under-21 international should certain conditions be met.
If Elliott appeared in 10 matches then the permanent clause would be triggered - but right now there is little chance of that happening.
Harvey Elliott's Aston Villa nightmare
The midfielder has had no football since October - with Villa boss Unai Emery seemingly trying to avoid triggering the clause.
The failure of the deal has led to speculation that Elliott’s spell at Villa Park could be cut short in January - although Villa would have to pay to send him back.
Liverpool fans would love to see Elliott given another chance - either on the right wing as a fill-in for Mohamed Salah or else in attacking midfield.
But the Villa No9 has got NO chance of breaking through under Arne Slot should he return to the club according to a new report in TEAMtalk.
Harvey Elliott WILL be sold
Instead it’s been claimed that Slot and sporting director Richard Hughes will seek to offload Elliott next summer - when he will have only one year left on his Liverpool contract.
“Liverpool still fully intend to offload him permanently next summer to generate funds for new signings,” a report reads.
Elliott is a top-quality player with two Premier League titles under his belt and still retains strong interest in the top flight and elsewhere.
RB Leipzig wanted a deal for him last summer although it seems as though in 2026 a Premier League move beckons.
Fulham and Palace want Harvey Elliott
“Clubs like Fulham – his boyhood team – and Crystal Palace have long admired him, with both monitoring his situation closely,” the report continues.
It’s a shame it’s not worked out for Elliott either at Anfield or at Aston Villa and Liverpool will need to settle for a lot less than £35m next summer. We await the opening of the January window to see if Elliott returns to base.
