Liverpool have put an incredible transfer on hold for the summer. But for one very good reason.

Liverpool have been as busy as anyone in this transfer window, with both incomings and outgoings. The turnover has been remarkable - especially for a team that just won the Premier League.

But the Reds have wanted to give Arne Slot a team built for him. They've certainly gone a long way to giving him that.

However, they're not done. Things have hit a snag for the last month as Liverpool's efforts to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United stalled their incomings.

Newcastle haven't wanted to sell Isak, though he believes they promised to. Now, it's possible they'll sell once a replacement comes in but their efforts to find one have been remarkably grim.

Just about everyone has rejected Newcastle and one who didn't, Yoane Wissa, had his team reject the offer. Liverpool are essentially just waiting for them to sign a striker so Isak can leave - but it's dragged on for so long now and the window is coming to a close.

And that delay hasn't just potentially cost them Isak, either. There's another transfer they weren't able to complete.

Liverpool and Morgan Rogers

Indy Kaila, who has been shockingly accurate for transfers this summer, claims he's been told by a reputable source that Liverpool are big fans of Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers. However, they haven't moved.

The reason? Their focus has been entirely on Isak for the last few months.

But Arne Slot is apparently a huge fan of Rogers' and there's no question that Aston Villa would be inclined to sell for a massive offer. They missed out on UEFA Champions League football for the season and their finances leave the door open to potential sales.

It's simply that the Isak transfer necessitates Liverpool's focus, especially with the money involved. Only when that's sorted - whichever way it goes - could they go for a deal like Rogers.

Now, Kaila is certainly not the first to claim Liverpool are big fans of Rogers. Fabrizio Romano claimed it back in May, to name one.

But it sounds like there could be movement. Maybe a late move if the Isak deal falls through? Liverpool would need to move in a different direction if Newcastle ultimately reject any offers.

Rogers might just be the pick if the funds are freed up.
