Liverpool ready to make incredible move and agree €45m transfer

Richard Hughes is ready to make a move for an exciting midfielder.

Liverpool’s 2023 midfield rebuild injected energy and technical quality into the squad that was much needed at the time.

But three years on, it's clear that there is once again a need for change.

At 33-years-old Wataru Endo is not a long-term solution, not even as a back-up. Meanwhile, Dominik Szoboszlai has at times been entrusted to fill in at right-back, and when he plays there Liverpool's depth becomes a lot worse in midfield.

Form and contract situations add further uncertainty. Alexis Mac Allister has struggled for consistency recently, and without adequate competition or rotation, dips in form become harder to manage. At the same time, Curtis Jones faces an unclear future with his contract expiring in 2027, which could force him to leave as early as this summer.

If Liverpool want to be successful again, adding at least one high-quality midfielder is a necessity this summer.

The Juventus midfielder, who has developed into a strong box-to-box presence in Serie A, has attracted interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Arsenal.

But it's Liverpool, who seem to be the most keen on his services. They wanted to sign him in the summer of 2023 and they are prepared to make a move again.

Liverpool are believed to be 'exploring' a package in the region of €45m plus add-ons to open negotiations, although Juventus could demand a higher fee given Thuram’s contract runs until 2029 and the Italian side value him at around €65m and €75m.

Thuram is an incredible midfielder and it's great to see Liverpool finally looking to agree a move for him.

His game has matured steadily in Turin, where he has become a key pillar for Juventus.

Comfortable winning the ball, driving forward with purpose, and linking play between the lines, he offers qualities that would definitely bolster Liverpool’s engine room lacking in all of those departments.

While Juventus insist the 24-year-old remains central to their long-term plans, the realities of modern football mean that Thuram would absolutely consider a move to Anfield if the opportunity arises.

Even based on current form the French international still has a much better chance of competing for the Champions League at Anfield than in Turin.

For many reasons, this is a move that makes a lot of sense. Richard Hughes has strong connections in Italian football so if anyone can make this happen, it's him. Perhaps Liverpool could even involve Federico Chiesa in the deal to make it happen.

One thing is certain based on this report, the Reds are definitely prepared to agree a deal.
