Liverpool told how they can sign Andoni Iraola favourite

Andoni Iraola has done a decent job as Liverpool's manager so far.

The Spaniard has led his team to an unbeaten start across all competitions and, although they may be sixth in the Premier League table, they're only six points behind league leaders, Manchester City.

That total could also end up getting cut in half by the end of the international break as, their first game back will be against the Cityzens.

And, while the £150 million they spent in the summer has certainly helped improve things, there are still a couple of areas that could do with an upgrade or two.

With this in mind, there have been many players linked with an Anfield switch and now, Liverpool have been told how they can try and get a deal over the line for one of their long-term targets.

Bournemouth want to add a release clause into Alex Scott's potential new deal

Liverpool's midfield is probably their main problem area at the moment.

Indeed, their left-backs could also do with a little work but, since their first-choice is only 22 years old, there's plenty of time for him to develop into a good player.

Players such as Alejandro Balde and Daniel Svensson have been linked with a potential switch in that department but, for Liverpool's midfield, many exciting names have emerged.

Throughout the summer, many different players were linked with Liverpool such as Adam Wharton, Eduardo Camavinga, Lamine Camara and Alex Scott.

So, not only does it prove that Liverpool know they need a new midfielder but, it also shows that it is one of their main priorities.

Unfortunately, deals for all four players never came to fruition but, thanks to a fresh update from TEAMtalk on Scott, the Reds have been told exactly how they could end up signing the Englishman in the future.

"Bournemouth are continuing to work on a new contract for Alex Scott and remain hopeful the midfielder will put pen to paper before the January transfer window, amid interest from Chelsea and Liverpool, TEAMtalk understands," they wrote.

"We understand Chelsea remain keen on the 23-year-old after seeing a bid rejected over the summer, while Liverpool are also showing an interest.

"We understand Scott has so far rejected numerous offers from Bournemouth, leaving the club looking at ways to make a new agreement more attractive to the England international.

"One option being considered is the inclusion of a release clause.

"We understand Bournemouth are prepared to follow the approach they used with Antoine Semenyo last season, inserting a release clause into Scott’s new contract as part of their efforts to convince him to commit his future to the club.

"Such a clause would potentially give Scott a clear pathway to a move next summer, should a club meet the agreed figure."

Alex Scott would be a perfect signing for Liverpool

As mentioned, Liverpool have a couple of problems among their ranks at the moment.

However, two of their main issues are their lack of homegrown players and the fact that they only have two midfielders who can perform well in a double pivot.

At the moment, Alexis Mac Allister is easily the Reds' best central midfielder and, of the four options that Iraola has, his future is the only one that is undecided.

Both Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai have just signed long-term deals while Trey Nyoni is still finding his feet on the fringes of Liverpool's first-team squad.

This raises the question on what Liverpool are going to do about it.

Of all the aforementioned options, Scott would clearly be the best way for Liverpool to go. He already knows Iraola's system and, since he's only 23 years old, there's still time for him to become even better than he already is.

The fact that Scott is also homegrown is a huge bonus as, at the moment, the Reds have no more foreign spots available in their first-team squad.

Scott will obviously cost whichever club buys him a hefty chunk of change but, for now, it really does feel like the 23-year-old is the best player for Liverpool to pursue.
