Liverpool to clinch contract agreement with centre-back
Liverpool will have no choice but to make significant amendments in the centre-back department over the coming transfer windows.
There are questions to answer over Ibrahima Konate - whose contract expires at the end of the current season.
If no new deal is agreed then the 26-year-old will be leaving on a free - with teams like Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain thought to be interested.
Then there’s the futures of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez to sort out. Both are out of contract in 2027 and aren’t expected to remain at Anfield beyond that point.
Accordingly new players are going to be sourced - with a deal for Marc Guehi falling at the final hurdle last summer.
Liverpool plan loan deal for Nallo
And the signing of Giovanni Leoni was clearly earmarked as a step towards the future - while deals look set to be concluded for youngsters Talla Ndiaye and Ifeanyi Ndukwe.
We could even see movement for Joel Ordonez - the Ecuador international at Club Brugge who was reported last week to be close to agreeing personal terms with the Premier League champions.
In the meantime the club are expected to conclude a deal for Amara Nallo to head out on loan. The 19-year-old has got interest from Championship teams as well as on the continent and could move out this winter for extra first-team football.
England under-20 international Nallo joined Liverpool from West Ham back in 2023 - going on to make two appearances in the first team under Arne Slot.
Amara Nallo to get new contract
He hold the unfortunate distinction of being the only Liverpool player to be sent off in consecutive matches following red cards against PSV and Crystal Palace.
He hasn’t played since that fateful night in the EFL Cup back in October but there are indications that Liverpool do want to have Nallo around long term.
Because This Is Anfield reports that plans are underway for Nallo to get a new contract as part of any upcoming loan arrangement.
“The intention was to commit him to a new long-term contract in the process,” the report reads.
So we can expect Nalllo to find a new club this winter on the back of signing a new long-term deal. That in turn should protect his transfer value should Richard Hughes decide to sell or else shore up his future for a senior career on Merseyside.
