Liverpool strike pre-agreement with England international
It's been an incredible summer for Liverpool but Richard Hughes' work is not over just yet.
Ultimately, the summer ended in disappointment with Marc Guehi's move collapsing in the final moments of the window. This doesn't taint the work Hughes has done. He's still pulled off an incredible window - although only time will tell how incredible it truly was.

Missing out on Guehi is a blow. He only wanted to move to Liverpool this summer and with uncertainty surrounding the future of Ibrahima Konate, it would have been ideal to tie the Crystal Palace defender down on a long-term deal.
Now Liverpool will have to rely on Konate, an injury prone Joe Gomez and a very much untested Giovanni Leoni.
Konate and Virgil van Dijk are elite options. Gomez in his prime is a fantastic player as well. But there's no denying Guehi would have made this team even better and the undoubted favourites for the Premier League and the Champions League.
There's no question Liverpool still need a centre-back. Whether they go back in for Guehi remains to be seen. Interest will obviously remain in the England international.
But it's a precarious situation. Guehi is one of the best defenders in the Premier League. In less than 12 months he will be free to leave and Liverpool likely will not be the only club hoping to pounce for him again.
He'll likely have a number of admirers and at that point Guehi will have a decision to make. Obviously, Liverpool could also swoop in and land him in January but there will be a lot of variables until then.
Six months is a very long time in football.
Nonetheless, even without Guehi we have to tip our hats off to Hughes. He's done a fantastic job this summer. Everyone has obviously focused on the incomings, which are all exciting.
Hughes should also receive praise for the way he managed to sell players. Particularly in his ability to offload promising players on the fringes for major profit.
This includes Ben Doak, Tyler Morton, Harvey Elliott and Jarell Quansah. Hughes secured a buy-back or a sell-on clause in all of their deals, which also guarantees that Liverpool will have a say in their futures if they fulfil their potentials.
But what's even more intriguing is that for Quansah, not only do Liverpool have a buy-back agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to re-sign him but they also seem to have a pre-agreement with Quansah himself.
That is according to a report in the Daily Mail, who claim that Liverpool have a pre-existing agreement in place with Quansah over the terms of a future contract should they decide to use their buyback clause.
So, it seems like Quansah is a player to keep an eye on, given Liverpool already have an agreement in place for his contract as well as his transfer.
The youngster has been impressive at Bayer Leverkusen so far this season and has earned a call-up to England's senior national team.
With games against Andorra and Serbia, Quansah could even make his debut for the senior team. He's so far only represented the U21s but has been included in a number of senior national team squads.
Liverpool rarely re-sign players. Over the club's recent history you could probably name the number of players who came back to play for Liverpool after Liverpool.
Craig Bellamy, Ian Rush, Robbie Fowler and Steve Staunton are the only ones that come to mind. Quansah has a good chance to follow in their footsteps.
