Liverpool's players have a lot of explaining to do after the performances they've put in throughout the 2025-26 season so far.

Most football fans thought that the Reds would be one of the best teams in the world but in reality, they've been miles off the pace.

Indeed, the lack of success from Arne Slot's team can't be whittled down to the contributions of just one player but the fact that hardly any of the Reds' first-team squad have been at their best is a massive cause for concern.

Players such as Mohamed Salah and Ibrahima Konate have been a fraction of their former selves which is why the January transfer window has piqued the interest of some fans.

Due to Liverpool's lack of form, several players have been linked with an Anfield switch with the Reds' interest in an 'exceptional' ace potentially getting stepped up after the latest transfer news that has emerged from L4.

Liverpool have dropped their interest in Joel Ordonez

Joel Ordonez is another player who's been heavily linked with a Liverpool transfer.

The 21-year-old has been a hot topic across the world of football for some time now with the Reds seen as the team most likely to sign him.

However, according to a report from the Daily Mail, it seems like a move for the Ecuadorian is now off the table.

The report states that a move for the defender is 'not on the agenda' for Liverpool's hierarchy at the moment.

Liverpool are now looking at 'other options' despite their interest in him over the last couple of seasons being well documented.

Simon Jones rounds up the report by adding that the Anfield outfit are still 'in the running' for Marc Guehi, who they tried to sign in the summer.

Liverpool could be about to go all in for Marc Guehi

Guehi is one of many players who Liverpool have long been linked with.

The Reds were inches away from signing the Englishman in the summer transfer window with the deal falling through at the last minute.

The 2025-26 season has been far from ideal for the Anfield outfit but the addition of Guehi would improve things massively.

Konate is half the player he used to be with Virgil van Dijk even being off the pace on more than one occasion.

At the moment, it's unclear what the rest of the January transfer window holds for Liverpool but now that they've taken their eyes off of Ordonez, it feels likely that Guehi could become their main focus.
