Richard Hughes has been busy at work this summer. His latest move should see the Reds land Hugo Ekitike, with Liverpool closing in on his signature from Eintracht Frakfurt.

Ekitike's addition alongside Florian Wirtz, Milos Kerkez and Jeremie Frimpong means Hughes has already pulled off a brilliant summer for the Reds in terms of recruitment.

Already Liverpool are in a much stronger position than they were in before. In the quartet they have four players who are all young and who are all regarded as some of the best up and coming players in their positions in world football.

But Hughes is not going to be done after Ekitike. The Reds will be making other moves in the market, and potentially reacting to some sales as well.

Most notably the possibility of Liverpool selling Luis Diaz still lingers in the air. But if the Colombian was to leave, Liverpool already seem to be lining up his perfect replacement.

The Reds are now interested in signing Rodrygo from Real Madrid, who at this moment in time looks very much out of favour at the club.

He didn't get as much game time as he wanted under Carlo Ancelotti last season and he doesn't seem to be in Xabi Alonso's plans either.

This opens up the possibility of him embarking on a new challenge and Liverpool therefore would become a very tangible option.

Michael Edwards has been a fan of Rodrygo ever since he burst into prominence at Santos. Liverpool were close to signing the Brazilian during his teenage years but in the end he held out for a move to Real Madrid.

Now though Rodrygo is reportedly open to a move to Liverpool. That's according to Eduardo Burgos speaking to Redmen TV. According to the reporter, Rodrygo is 'happy' with the interest and he's 'open' to a move.

With the riches of attacking talent at Anfield, Liverpool looks like a very attractive prospect for Rodrygo and the Brazilian will be a very attractive prospect for Liverpool as well.

That's because he is massively underrated and this was confirmed by one of his teammates as well.

Speaking to CBS Sports after Real Madrid's game against Manchester City last season, Jude Bellingham was full of praise for Rodrygo.

"Rodrygo is so underrated. I think, for me, he’s probably the most talented and most gifted player in the squad. The things he can do with the football... We’ll be messing around and he’ll flick the ball up somehow and you’ll be like, ‘How did you do that?’.

“Another thing to mention is that he is the one that sacrifices the most. I think it’s clear that his favourite position is the left but it’s important to note that he does a lot for the team, defensively as well, on the right-hand side.”

Now if Rodrygo is the most gifted player at Real Madrid then it's not a stretch to say he's the most gifted player in the world. Real Madrid are ultimately one of the best teams in the world right now, so naturally it's fair to argue Rodrygo assumes that position in world football as well.
