By the looks of things, Harvey Elliott's time at Liverpool could be coming to an end and his replacement might just be a star from Arsenal.

The young Liverpool midfielder very much hinted that his future could lie elsewhere in his post-match interview after Brighton.

In that game Elliott showcased his quality scoring a goal and registering an assist. Those two goal contributions mean he has now averaged 0.88 goals and assists per 90 minutes this season.

Only Mohamed Salah averages more in all competitions for Liverpool. Admittedly, though, Elliott has done this with limited playing time.

He's just not seen as a player who can regularly play a part of Arne Slot's team in the long-term. Even though Elliott has shown that he can make an impact when he does spend time on the pitch, it's just not been enough.

Right now for Liverpool, he's an asset that is depreciating in value every minute he spends on the pitch. For Elliott, the longer he goes on without regular minutes, the harder it will be to settle back into his rhythm.

That's why it makes sense for both parties to go their separate ways this summer.

Anfield Watch understands it is likely Liverpool will allow Elliott to leave and they value him at around £50m. His departure is going to leave a gap in the squad though.

But it's one that could be filled by an Arsenal midfielder, whose situation Liverpool are monitoring at the moment.

According to TBR Football, Ethan Nwaneri is yet to extend his current contract with Arsenal. His deal expires at the Gunners in 2026, and this deal was signed in 2023.

Since then, Arsenal have tried to extend his contract but have been unable to do so far. Nwaneri has dithered on a decision which has alerted the attention of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Now this is interesting because Liverpool are very familiar with loosing homegrown stars on a free transfer right now. Arsenal will be very aware of what happened with Trent Alexander-Arnold, too, and they will want to avoid a similar situation with Nwaneri.

Obvious at this stage their priority will be to extend his deal. However, if an agreement cannot be reached, the closer we get towards the end of the summer the more likely an audacious bid if Liverpool decide to follow up their interest could be enough to land Nwaneri.

It would be the perfect move for the Reds. Nwaneri can fill that Elliott void on the bench but he'd be even better. He's a versatile player who can play in a number of positions, which means he may get more minutes on the pitch in comparison to Elliott.

On top of that, Liverpool would get one of the most talented young players in England. Let's not forget Nwaneri broke Elliott's record in the Premier League back when he was just 15-years-old, becoming the youngest player ever to play in the competition.

He's a massive talent and bringing him to Anfield would be a huge coup.

The appeal will be there for Nwaneri, too. Liverpool would give him the opportunity of competing for titles and playing alongside some of the best players in world football.

The opportunity to learn from a world-class coach in Arne Slot should not be underestimated, either.

That's why this is a deal to keep a close eye on. We would not be surprised to see Liverpool make an attempt to sign him if the opportunity arose.
