Liverpool now have their very own version of Kevin De Bruyne

Liverpool are one of the most well-known clubs in the world.

The Anfield outfit won the Premier League a couple of seasons ago but, their defence of it was shocking.

Their poor performances actually led to Arne Slot being sacked which is why Andoni Iraola is now the man in charge.

Of course, all the blame can't be placed upon the shoulders on the Dutchman, especially since most of Liverpool's players failed to get out of first gear.

Iraola is obviously trying to change that and, fortunately for him some players, such as Alexander Isak, are doing rather well this term.

However, some still haven't managed to get out of first-gear which is why it kind of feels like the Reds may have their very own version of Kevin De Bruyne among their ranks at the moment.

Florian Wirtz could be Liverpool's Kevin De Bruyne

Although everyone will remember De Bruyne as one of the Premier League's best number 10s, when he first started out in England's top flight, he failed to meet expectations.

Initially, he joined Chelsea from KRC Genk for a fee worth around £6.7 million, and at the time, he was seen as the next big thing.

However, for one reason or another, he failed to meet expectations and only contributed to one goal during his two years at the club.

This then led to him joining Wolfsburg where he finally found his feet and he then eventually joined Manchester City, where he became one of the Premier League's best midfielders.

For Liverpool, Florian Wirtz feels like he's in a similar situation.

His first season with the Reds wasn't all that great and his second, well, that hasn't got off to the best start either.

However, when playing for Bayer Leverkusen, he was easily one of the Bundesliga's best players and, if Liverpool can try and figure out how to get the best out of him, he could easily become the league's next De Bruyne.

His passing ability, coupled with his keen eye for goal are just two of the things that set him apart from his peers.

And, even though fans don't see why Liverpool spent £116 million on him yet, they'll be hoping that he proves them wrong, just like De Bruyne did when City bought him for £50 million from Wolfsburg.

Liverpool must figure out how to get the best out of Florian Wirtz

With Wirtz being played in his preferred position of number 10, fans thought that he'd excel under Iraola.

But, since his teammates such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch don't seem to know what they're doing in a double pivot, the German is having to cover so much more ground than everyone else.

This means that he's spending last time up front and more time covering for his two holding-midfielders which is obviously far from ideal.

Of course, now that Jurgen Klopp is Germany's manager, he might be able to help squeeze the best out of the 23-year-old and get him to achieve his goals.

But, at the end of the day, it's up to Liverpool to get the most out of their £116 million signing.

Obviously, having some better holding midfielders behind him would be beneficial but, even without new central midfielders, Wirtz should be doing a lot better than he is.

Here's hoping that something ends up clicking and the Reds' fanbase get to experience the true potential of the German.
