Andoni Iraola has had a decent start to life as Liverpool's head coach.

The Spaniard took over from Arne Slot at the start of the 2026-27 season and, even though he's only coached five Premier League games so far, you can already tell that the Anfield outfit are beginning to understand how to play in his style.

Certain players such as Lewis Koumas and Jeremy Jacquet are thriving and, while it's taking others such as Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch a bit longer to adapt to their new positions, once they get a hang of it, the Reds will be much better off.

Of course, they are still sixth in the Premier League table so they have a lot of work to do but, since their first game back after the international break is against Manchester City, they can instantly cut their gap to the league leaders in half.

The fact that the rumour mill is still constantly turning is obviously good news but, if Liverpool are really wanting to turn their fortunes around, they have to do everything in their power to get this one "major" deal completed.

Michael Olise is now a major target for Liverpool

One player that Liverpool didn't quite manage to replace in the summer was Mohamed Salah.

The Egyptian King was one of the first players to exit Anfield with the Reds allowing him to leave the club for nothing despite him having a year left on his contract.

Indeed, doing this allowed Liverpool to save the £20 million on wages that they would've had to shell out for the attacker but, if they'd have just kept hold of him for another season instead, it feels like that would've been much more valuable.

Many different players were linked with an Anfield switch over the summer but, one rumour that remained constant was Michael Olise.

Ever since Salah's exit was first announced, the Frenchman has been on top of the Reds' shortlist to replace him but, since Bayern Munich wanted an obscene amount of money for him, a deal never came to fruition.

However, a fresh update from CF Bayern Insider may have changed that thought process.

"Bayern Munich are looking to hold initial talks with Michael Olise over a contract extension in the coming weeks, as the German giants look to secure the long-term future of one of their most prized assets," they wrote.

"During the summer window, Olise was heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, but Bayern remained adamant that the winger was not for sale and resisted any approaches for the Frenchman.

"Premier League heavyweights Liverpool are also searching for a left-footed winger capable of operating on the right, with Olise emerging as one of their major targets.

"Olise could be tempted by the prospect of joining Real Madrid, where he would reunite with France teammates Kylian Mbappe and Ibrahima Konate and take another giant step in his already rapidly accelerating career.

"A return to the Premier League could also appeal, although doubts remain over whether Liverpool would be prepared to meet the enormous transfer fee that Bayern would inevitably demand for one of their most valuable players."

Liverpool signing Michael Olise would massively improve their attack

Obviously, after spending well over £300 million on new attackers over the last couple of years, you'd have hoped that Liverpool's attack was already the best in the world.

However, at the moment, Alexander Isak, Bradley Barcola and Florian Wirtz have all failed to meet expectations with some fans demanding that even more talent is signed.

And, while Liverpool can oblige and do that, there is quite literally no better signing for them at the moment than Olise.

The Frenchman is easily the world's best right-winger and, the fact that he's also left-footed is instantly valuable to Liverpool.

Because, right now, they have no left-footed attacker among their forward line and, while this may not seem like that big of an issue, it makes it easy for them to be predictable.

This is clearly not what Liverpool want so, signing Olisem, therefore, adding an attacker who's bagged 50 goals in his last two and a bit seasons would help improve things a lot.

At the moment, it's anyone's guess who Liverpool will go for but, if a move for the right-winger ever comes to light, Iraola needs to do everything he can to get him in.
