It's all happening at Liverpool at the moment.

We thought once the Reds completed the signing of Florian Wirtz, things would be quiet on the new arrivals front. However, it's been anything but.

Since then the Reds have made a move to sign Marc Guehi. And now they have approached both Alexander Isak and Hugo Ekitike. At this stage it looks like, the latter is more likely to join the Reds.

But either way, Guehi and Isak/Ekitike will not end the club's summer activity. Richard Hughes is working on bringing in a few more players with Liverpool having the financial wiggle room to do so.

Meanwhile, departures could force his hands even more. Most notably if Luis Diaz leaves the club, the Reds could sanction a move for someone like Anthony Gordon or Rodrygo.

And they are looking to sign another England international as well, or at least they've made the first step to do so.

According to the BBC, Liverpool have checked in on Ollie Watkins ahead of a potential move this summer. The England international scored 16 goals in the Premier League last season and he is believed to be on the market.

Aston Villa would be open to selling him for the right price, although what that is remains to be seen. Currently, Watkins has three years left on his current deal and he's been at Villa since 2020, so he's clearly happy at the club.

Watkins is also 29-years-old and will be turning 30-years-old in December, so it remains to be seen whether Liverpool would be willing to sanction a massive move for the striker.

However, if he's available for the right price, Watkins could be an excellent option in addition to Ekitike - especially if Darwin Nunez departs as expected.

Without Nunez, Liverpool's options will be a little bit thin upfront. Bringing in Watkins would provide Slot with an experienced player and someone who has proven he can score goals in the Premier League, Champions League and at international level as well.

Importantly, Watkins is also homegrown and he'd fill a crucial criteria in the squad to ensure Liverpool can name a full 25-men squad for the upcoming season.

So this is definitely an option to keep an eye on. This summer is probably Watkins' last chance to get a big move, something he has been linked to for several years now.

If Liverpool make their interest clear, and Watkins is open to the challenge, it would not be a surprise to see more movement on this front.

For now, Hughes is concentrating on getting a deal over the line for Ekitike, which would also be a massive signing.
