Richard Hughes has made the first steps to signing an incredible left-winger for Liverpool.

The club's sporting director has wanted to bring in a left-winger for a while now. When he first took over back in 2024, he pursued a move for Anthony Gordon.

In the January transfer window, Hughes contemplated entering the race to sign Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but ultimately he decided to join Paris Saint Germain.

During the last summer transfer window, Hughes had the likes of Bradley Barcola, Malick Fofana and Antoine Semenyo on his radar but opted to sign none of them.

Instead, he's left Liverpool with Cody Gakpo and Rio Ngumoha as the only options on the left-wing. Florian Wirtz could also play there but he's definitely better in a central position.

So, Liverpool's search for a left-winger continues and it looks like they are now actively making steps to finally bring in a player.

According to a report by Turkish football a scouting delegation from Liverpool travelled to Bulgaria to see Kenan Yildiz in action during Turkey's World Cup qualifier.

The report claims Liverpool have now entered the race for the incredible Juventus winger, who has been on fire over the last couple of seasons.

Yildiz scored a brace in the game against Bulgarian, which means that including the Club World Cup he has 13 goal contributions in his last 16 appearances for club and country.

Yildiz would be the perfect option for Liverpool. The Reds lack someone who can take players on in one vs one situations and who can be very direct in tight spaces.

In Europe's top five leagues, Yildiz ranks in the 90th percentile among his positional peers for successful take-ons (2.46 per 90) as per FBref.

He's also a massive creative outlet and while he's far from the finished article, he's only 20-years-old. There's so much room for him to improve and become even better.

All in all, he's probably the perfect left-winger to put in this Liverpool side. Juventus won't want to let him go on the cheap though.

Liverpool will have to pay a handsome fee in order to land him from the Italian side. But for Yildiz is might just be worth going all out.

The fact that the Reds are actively sending people to keep an eye on him is definitely a sign Liverpool also believe that.
