Arne Slot will have a lot of questions to answer in the summer.

The Dutchman was expected to lead Liverpool to another Premier League title this season and maybe even a Champions League to go alongside it.

However, that has been far from the case with the Anfield outfit not even being guaranteed a top four finish.

Granted, a lot of this is due to the number of changes that Slot has made this season but, with the amount of quality he has at his disposal, Liverpool should be doing an awful lot better.

This lack of form has caused many rumours to emerge and now, the Reds have been linked with a player who could turn their fortunes around in an instant.

Liverpool set to battle Premier League rivals for Newcastle's Lewis Hall

Over the last couple of years, Lewis Hall has confirmed his status as England's best left-back with his recent outing against Barcelona further confirming this.

The 21-year-old has been in fine form for Eddie Howe's men over the last couple of seasons with his 2025-26 performances some of his best ever.

Whether he needs to defend or help his team out in attack, the former Chelsea ace has been one of the Magpies' most reliable players so it's hardly surprising to see Liverpool being linked with him.

That is, according to a report from Caught Offside who share that Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund have all sent their scouts to watch the left-back in action.

Although no official bids have been made by any clubs yet, the fact that the "massive" defender has this much interest in him proves how good he actually is.

Caught Offside state that Hall could be the 'ideal' replacement for Andy Robertson who's contract is set to expire at the end of the current season.

However, for Newcastle to even consider letting him go, the fee required for the youngster would need to be around £70 million.

Liverpool will need a new left-back in the summer

Although Slot and Richard Hughes have just spent £45 million on Milos Kerkez, it's clear that some extra money will need to be spent on reinforcing their left-back.

The Hungarian has finally started to come into his own, but, with no signs of Robertson being offered an extension by Liverpool, they're going to be a man down.

Indeed, Kostas Tsimikas could end up returning and filling in as Kerkez's back-up but, with how inconsistent the former Bournemouth man has been this season, it feels like Liverpool could do with a more level-headed back-up than the Greek Scouser.

Of course, Tsimikas did a more than solid job of backing Robertson up during his time at Anfield but, if Liverpool want to become the best team in the world, they need much better quality players among their ranks.

Although spending £70 million on Hall may seem a tad extreme, there's no denying that he'd be an exceptional transfer for the club.

Indeed, only time will tell what the future has in store but for now, Slot must figure out what he's doing with Robertson so that he can start to get some plans in place to source his replacement.

Otherwise, they could end up in a similar situation to this season where they have nowhere near enough depth among their ranks.
