Liverpool have got a lot of change coming their way this summer.

The Anfield outfit have already replaced their manager and got Andoni Iraola in and, even though this will likely give the club a boost, they still need a fair few new players if they want to challenge for the title.

Liverpool finished fifth in the Premier League during the 2025-26 season which is a massive fall from grace from where they expected to be after winning the title in the 2024-25 campaign.

However, with all these changes expected to take place at Anfield, the club will need to move a few of their own players on to generate enough funding.

There are obviously some of the Reds' team who a solid candidates to be moved on but, there are also some who are seen as untouchable.

Despite this, moves are likely to be made for most of their first-team squad with Iraola and Richard Hughes being given a massive warning about one of their most important players.

RB Leipzig made an enquiry about Rio Ngumoha

Around a month or so ago, Liverpool's fanbase were rocked by a report stating that Bayern Munich had agreed terms with Rio Ngumoha ahead of the summer transfer window.

That was, until Arne Slot was relieved of his duties which is when talks stopped altogether.

Since then, several reports about the situation have emerged and, even though the Englishman was on Bayern's shortlist, the Reds made it more than clear that he wasn't for sale.

The 17-year-old was one of Liverpool's best players last term and the fact that his exit was even being discussed was shocking.

And, despite the Reds' not for sale stance, another club made an enquiry about the attacker which handed Liverpool some major warning signs about his future.

"In addition to FC Bayern, RB Leipzig also expressed interest in Liverpool's Rio Ngumoha weeks ago," journalist Philipp Hinze shared via his personal X account.

"It quickly became clear that the 17-year-old is not feasible for Leipzig. Package, ambitions, competition.

"Exciting profile for RB, but currently not doable, unless a completely unforeseen door opens during the transfer period. Player currently (far) out of Leipzig's reach."

Liverpool must lock Rio Ngumoha down with a new contract

Although Liverpool already knew that they had a massive talent on their hands with Ngumoha, the fact that clubs are actually enquiring about a transfer is a tad scary.

Ngumoha's contract is set to run out in June 2028 and, while that's still two years away, with the way that Liverpool's recent expiring contracts have gone, it's worrying.

Liverpool have lost Trent Alexander-Arnold, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate for nothing over the last two years and, unless they agree a new deal with Ngumoha, he could also suffer the same fate.

Indeed, the Anfield outfit are probably waiting to see how well he does in the 2026-27 season but, if they leave it too late, they'll be leaving themselves open for another drawn-out contract saga.

If the Reds were to lose Ngumoha for nothing, there would be uproar at Anfield.

The 17-year-old is clearly the future of the club and, even if he isn't given a regular starting role this term, he's still going to have a massive part to play in the 2026-27 season, especially with Iraola now at the helm.

Although no concrete moves have yet been made, the last month or so have clearly been a warning sign to Liverpool that they can't ignore.
