Liverpool have given a massive hint that one player is heading out on loan.

It's the January transfer window which means the possibility for player movement is always there for the Reds. Liverpool are not expected to be busy during the month, they never usually are.

Even under new leadership the club's stance has never changed. They will never be proactive in January but rather they are going to be reactive.

If a long term target becomes available, Liverpool are going to act. Just as they have done so in the past when they got a deal over the line for Luis Diaz or Cody Gakpo.

But if nothing of the kind emerges on the horizon, then Liverpool won't be doing any business.

The most we are likely to see the club doing is arranging more loan deals for some of their impressive young talent.

Even though Arne Slot has refrained from giving young players a chance in the first-team, there's still a lot of talented footballers in the academy who are ready for the next step in their careers.

Among them are the likes of Trent Kone-Doherty and Kieran Morrison. Both of them were the stars of the show as Liverpool U21s ran out 7-0 victorious over Arsenal at the weekend.

In that team selection there was also a massive hint that one player is likely going to be on the move. Despite having no injuries, Wellity Lucky was not named in the U21 squad. He was then also not part of the first-team squad.

The talented youngster has already made his competitive debut for Liverpool this season in the League Cup, and he has also sat on the bench in the Premier League on several occasions.

Now, the fact that it's January and he's not involved with the U21s nor the first-team despite being fit, you'd assume that's a huge hint about him potentially now going out on loan.

Liverpool have already reinforced their defensive backline this month at academy level, too.

Noah Adekoya and Mor Talla Ndiaye have both joined and are expected to be part of Rob Page's U21 side, which further opens the door for Lucky to make a loan move.

The 20-year-old defender agreed a three-year contract with Liverpool last summer and rejected enquiries from major clubs in favour of staying at Anfield.

He's a hugely talented defender who is extremely composed on the ball and reads the game very well.

At his age, he is definitely ready to go out on loan, similarly to Jarell Quansah who spent a six month loan deal at Bristol Rovers, which helped him grow and become a better player.

We all know what happened to Quansah after that, so all eyes will now be on Lucky.
