Liverpool forward set to RETURN to action in December or January

One of Liverpool's forwards is ruled out for the considerable future.

Arne Slot wasn't really hit with too many injury problems in his first season at Anfield. In fact the Liverpool head-coach was quite lucky.

This season has been different. He's faced problems with his no.1 goalkeeper, Alisson has missed over a month of football. At times Slot was also missing not just his first choice but second choice right-backs, being forced to use Dominik Szoboszlai in the position.

Meanwhile, his star striker Alexander Isak has not been able to get back to his full fitness at all. Isak missed the entirety of pre-season due to his stand-off with Newcastle United.

He's come to Liverpool not fully fit and he's also picked up an injury in the process, which has halted his progress.

It has been a frustrating time for the club's record signing.

But Isak is back in training again after missing crucial games in October and November and there is a chance for him to be involved in the game against Manchester City.

Even if he's just on the bench, we know how dangerous he can be. Isak could be a massive asset for Liverpool just to play a few minutes and provide a goal-scoring threat if Slot's side is chasing the game.

Of course, Isak is not the only new striker Liverpool signed who is struggling with an injury.

Unfortunately, Will Wright, who made his debut against Athletic Bilbao in a friendly at Anfield on the day his arrival at the club became official, suffered a setback in September.

Wright made a misstep in Liverpool's opening UEFA Youth League game, and it turned out that he had suffered a knee injury as a result.

The youngster had to be carried off and he's been out with the injury ever since. It has meant that Wright missed out on opportunities to feature for Liverpool in the League Cup, which may have been presented to him with Isak's injury and the fact that Jayden Danns is currently also out injured.

We've gotten very little updates about how Wright's recovery is going.

But Liverpool academy expert Lewis Bower has shared a promising detail on X.

According to Bower, Wright is likely to be back in action in January, although he could feature as early as December as well.

That's good news. Having him back is going to be important for Liverpool's U21 side. It's also going to be important for Wright to get more minutes under his belt.

If he can get himself in good condition, then there's also a chance of him being involved in Liverpool's third round FA Cup game as well.
