Liverpool have got a couple of big contract issues to solve ahead of summer 2026.

Key defenders Ibrahima Konate and Andy Robertson are both out of contract at the end of this season. And right now the futures of both are undecided.

Konate, 26, could be off to Real Madrid if he declines Liverpool’s latest offer of a renewal. Robertson, meanwhile is said to be a target for Celtic.

The 31-year-old was non-committal when asked about his future on Scotland international duty this week.

But having fought back to reclaim his place in Arne Slot’s lineup this season there is no doubt that he could still have a role to play for the Reds.

Andy Robertson earns new Liverpool contract talks

Robertson was replaced by Milos Kerkez in the starting lineup for the early portion of the season - with Richard Hughes paying £40m for his ex-Bournemouth charge.

However some dubious performances from the Hungarian have allowed Robbo back in - and his decision to decline a move to Atletico Madrid last summer appears vindicated.

And while Celtic are thought to be keen on adding Robertson to their squad for next season, a new report in 67 Hail Hail claims that Liverpool are planning a contract summit with their left-back in the new year.

Contract talks planned with Robertson

“Everyone is aware of Robertson’s ties with Celtic, but as it stands I am told that the player firmly believes he still has a future at Liverpool,” the report reads.

“His deal at Anfield is due to expire, but I believe that as it stands they will be talking to him soon, probably heading into the New Year about new terms.

“It won’t be long-term but as he has proven so far this season that he is more than capable of playing at the top-level.”

Liverpool must weigh up Robbo renewal carefully

Robertson has been at Liverpool since 2017 - making an £8m move from Hull City. He has gone on to win all the biggest prizes in the club game - including two Premier Leagues and the Champions League.

Given his age - and his £160k per week salary - it is no surprise that Richard Hughes might be unsure about offering Robertson a renewal at this stage. But the player has proven in recent months that he is not finished yet.
