Fantastic news as massive Liverpool injury boost CONFIRMED
Liverpool have received a massive injury boost ahead of their crunch clash with Chelsea this weekend. This could make the difference.
Liverpool take on Chelsea on Saturday at Stamford Bridge. The Reds are eager to get back to winning ways after a difficult week has seen them lose two on the bounce.
Though, they do still top the Premier League. Liverpool have found ways to win consistently before the last seven days - this is hopefully just a minor blip.
But now they face arguably their most difficult away test of the season so far as Chelsea welcome then. It's made all the more difficult by some injury concerns, too.
Alisson Becker is out of this one, having gone off injured against Galatasaray. In fact, the Brazilian will miss considerable time and isn't expected back until at least November.
There is better news with the other injury problem coming out of Tuesday, though.
Hugo Ekitike update
The Daily Mail claims Hugo Ekitike is fine to face Chelsea on Saturday after going off against Galatasaray. It was said at the time that the player felt it was only cramp that forced him off - that now appears to have been the case.
And so Liverpool can count on the Frenchman at Stamford Bridge. That's a massive boost for the squad, who can't really afford to lose a striker right now.
Jayden Danns is out injured, while Alexander Isak still isn't quite up to speed after missing pre-season. Ekitike is by far the most reliable option available and Liverpool need him for games like this.
There's also no question that Ekitike has been the best of Liverpool's summer additions. He's scored consistently and looks the most at home in the current system - an enormous boost at a time when others are struggling.
We fully expect him to feature against Chelsea, then, and hopefully from the start. It could make all the difference.
