Didier Deschamps issues Ibrahima Konate update amid injury scare
Liverpool fans were left concerned by the sight of Ibrahima Konate limping out of the weekend’s Premier League defeat of Arsenal at Anfield.
With the game in the balance at 0-0, the defender looked uncomfortable as he was replaced by Joe Gomez for the final stages of the encounter.

The Reds have won three Premier League games from three at the start of the season - and Konate looked back to something approaching his best for the Arsenal game.
Konate limps out of Arsenal game
The 26-year-old endured some difficult moments in the first two matches of the season - against Bournemouth and Newcastle - leading to question marks over his place in the team.
Sporting director Richard Hughes spent the summer chasing Marc Guehi amid uncertainty over Konate’s contract and his iffy form meant that the Anfield side could have done with a senior alternative option.
Happily for the club however he seems to have sorted his form out and Slot will be expecting him to carry that consistency through the rest of the campaign.
Deschamps confirms Konate injury isn't serious
Having gone off against the Gunners however, Liverpool were faced with the prospect of losing Konate for yet another injury absence.
It’s been a frequent problem for the Frenchman since signing from RB Leipzig in 2021 - and he missed around six weeks during the title-winning campaign last term.
Despite the injury, he reported for duty at France’s Clairefontaine camp on Monday September 1 for their upcoming FIFA World Cup qualification matches against Ukraine and Iceland this week.
And according to Ouest France, there is nothing to worry about.
It’s expected that the centre-back will take his place in Didier Deschamps’ lineup for the fixtures. “The Liverpool player, for his part, is only suffering from cramps and is fit for duty, Deschamps said,” reads a report in the French publication.
It follows on from Arne Slot's confirmation on Sunday post-match that Konate's injury was indeed a minor one.
Konate is out of contract in 2026 and has been a cornerstone of Liverpool’s success under Slot. Hughes and the head coach will be hoping for a contract resolution sooner rather than later.
