In the latter, there was almost a complete overhaul with Alisson Becker the only senior player from last season staying at the club. His back-up, third and fourth choice are all new arrivals.

However, while there will not be such a huge shake-up in the centre-back position, Liverpool definitely have to address it at some point.

With Jarell Quansah gone, there's just three senior centre-backs left at the club. This is Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Ibrahima Konate.

The latter two are not only injury prone but in Konate Liverpool have a player entering the final year of his contract. So, it's imperative that if they cannot extend his deal, Liverpool have to prepare for the future.

And that's exactly what the club appears to be doing as they have agreed a deal for an exciting defender, who has been at a stand-off with the club for a few weeks now.

According to This is Anfield Wellity Lucky has finally agreed terms with the club after being offered a new deal at the end of last season.

Lucky, who is eligible to play for Spain and England at international level, would have been able to leave the club as a free agent but the Reds have convinced him to stay.

He is expected to sign a three year contract according to the report.

Lucky is highly rated by the club's academy and he had received other offers from England and abroad. He's also participated in Arne Slot's training sessions with the first team in the past.

The report claims that Lucky is expected to remain with the U21s for the upcoming season working alongside newly appointed Rob Page.

However, he does also have a lot of interest from clubs trying to take him out on loan and he could leave the Reds in the January transfer window.

Long-term he's definitely someone who could be an option for the first team. Amara Nallo was involved with Slot's side in pre-season against Preston, and Lucky actually produced better performances than him at U21 level last season.

A good loan could help him bridge the gap between the U21s to the first team, just like it did for Quansah at Bristol Rovers.
