Liverpool have confirmed there is a new attacker in the club's first team squad.

Last season, Arne Slot wanted six forward options. In his current system, there are three attacking positions, meaning he needed an back-up option for every role.

This is why Liverpool ultimately signed Federico Chiesa last summer, who can play out wide and through the middle as well. It's why they are keeping him at the club this summer after he proved this summer that he's ready to make an impact on the pitch.

But while keeping Chiesa is a boost, Liverpool have lost a lot of attacking options also. Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Ben Doak have all been sold on permanent deals.

Meanwhile, a terrible tragedy took Diogo Jota away from us far too prematurely.

Hugo Ekitike has come in, and he's taken the Reds by storm scoring three goals in his first three games, as well as registering an assist.

But he alone cannot be the only addition. At this moment in time, Slot's first team really only has Ekitike, Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah and Chiesa as senior forward options.

This is why Liverpool are continuing to pursue a move for Alexander Isak. He could solve those problems massively and definitely bolster Slot's attack.

But again even with Isak, that's only five senior attackers. So, who replaces Luis Diaz on the left-wing?

Well, the answer is obvious - it's Rio Ngumoha.

He proved in pre-season that he's ready for the step-up with five goal contributions in as many games for the Reds. He followed that up with a winner against Newcastle United on his Premier League debut becoming the youngest player ever to score in the club's history.

It's not easy writing history for a club like Liverpool who have had so many legendary players over the years but Ngumoha is a special talent.

He's someone who aspires to win the Ballon d'Or and now at 16-years-old (soon to be 17-years-old) has proven he's ready to make an impact at the highest level in the game.

Up until this point though, it was moot whether he would actually be considered as a first team option. Even the club's official website listed him as an academy player.

Well, that was until now. Eagle-eyed supporters have spotted here and here on social media that Liverpool's website have promoted Ngumoha to the first team section.

He's now listed as a forward option on the club's website confirming that he's a first-team player and that he has been fully promoted from the academy.

So you can bet we will see more of the exciting youngster as the season goes on.
